Good:
- Honesty in every situation.
- Very punctual, "time is of the essence"
- LOVE learning new stuff/being smarter
- I care a lot/help others a lot
- Stick up for what I believe
Honestly, it's hard to list good qualities about myself without sounding stuck-up lol.

Bad:
- Lose my temper too quick
- Lose my temper over insignificant things
- Brood over problems for too long
- Procrastinate (I know, it's kind of opposite to the being on time... =/)
- Sometimes, I care too much.

The good is all due to my parents. The last one esp goes to my mom - she really instilled self-confidence and standing up for what is right. Honesty and punctuality are things my dad drilled into my head from a very young age and I think both of those things build a basis for everything else. Being punctual shows the importance of another person/project. Honesty, is well...honesty, lol. Humsafar has made this popular...but my dad told me when I was a kid that telling lies is easy at first, but then building one lie on top of another on top of another... it gets difficult and hurtful. Prolonged problems. Whereas the truth pinches at first, but feels great afterwards. Prolonged happiness.

I lose my temper a lot over small things, lol. I've been trying to just let a lot of small things go, it causes unnecessary stress in one's life. It's like I'm burning myself and the other person just ... enjoys life? Haha. That kind of helps me get over the temper problems. I listed caring for people as my best and worst quality bcos people have taken a lot of advantage of me over the years, when I thought they cared about me. So, I'm slowly learning when to draw the line.

^ That was really wonderful S_Punk. Good for you and your parents - seems they are a very good role model.
"Being punctual shows the importance of another person/project." I like that very much. Good luck to you!

Re: sensible/serious/awesome/discussion worthy thread

Good stuff :

I'm very patient
Very dependable and punctual - I feel it is very important for my work life
I dnt judge a book by its cover
I stand up for what I believe is right
I forgive easily (unless it involves my family being hurt)

Bad stuff :

VERY STUBBORN - I will not concede to you unless I'm wrong, that goes to even my parents!
VERY VERY HOT TEMPERED - though these days I feel am calming down a bit..
I forgive easily..BUT I dnt forget!!!
I dnt give too much importance to money - I lose money ALL the time
Procrastinate - urghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...I dnt know why I do it!!!!

I think being patient, and dependable came from my dad. Forgiving easily came from my mom..

Being stubborn came from my dad - sometimes I give him a dose of his own medicine :p (though I shouldn't)
Hot tempered came from my mom and dad both...my mom is loud when she gets mad, while my dad goes insanely quiet - I go both ways depending on who made me mad!

A lot of things I had to learn through my mistakes as I grew up away from parents majority of my life...and the best teacher is life itself!

Re: sensible/serious/awesome/discussion worthy thread

Nice qualities - both parents have had a hand in the good qualities it looks like
Stubbornness can be good though - it shows one believes in something. Hot temper - we all struggle with it.

Indeed life is the best teacher.
Thanks Aaaliya, and good night!

Re: sensible/serious/awesome/discussion worthy thread

^ Welcome to this neighborhood!

OK strengths with persons who influenced in bracket

Treat everyone the same irrespective of "status" (mother, who would be extremely soft to the lady comes to our house to clean etc)

Treat people from all religions the same (father)

Be fair in dealings with others (wife)

Weakness - with actions in bracket

Cant follow the "Dont sweat the small stuff" mantra (have included it as signature to remind myself - does not seem to be working)

Get into unnecessary arguments - (recognizing and accepting this and trying daily to get better, one micro-step at a time)

Can be offensive during arguments, need to have the last word (making conscious effort to change this - unsuccessful mostly - again baby steps)

And for the comedy section, here is a neutralizing strength and weakness, with due apologies to the brilliant Icon.

Strength - I always get chilgozay for MamouN
Weakness - I get angry when MamouN does not get me chilgozay

Re: sensible/serious/awesome/discussion worthy thread

According to my mom, my top two good qualities are also my bad qualities (i.e they always lend me in trouble):
1) whatever I feel appears on my face - it makes me a person who others can easily trust bc they can see through me, but it also gets me into a lot of trouble bc if I am angry, frustrated etc., people can sense it real quick.
2) I genuinely believe I can have anything if I work hard for it and ask Allah swt for help - it makes me ambitious and motivated, but also a top notch optimist and a dreamer...

Re: sensible/serious/awesome/discussion worthy thread

^ Can we swap our qualities?

Optimism and dreaming is good, IMO.

Re: sensible/serious/awesome/discussion worthy thread

when I read this it felt like someone is describing me..

Re: sensible/serious/awesome/discussion worthy thread

^hi :) nice to meet you.

Southie: hahah optimism is only good to a certain extent. After that, you give others a ticket to hurt you.

Re: sensible/serious/awesome/discussion worthy thread

Good:

No matter how much pressure im under, i dont break
creative (well known in my family as being the creative one) :)
I tell things like they are, i dont sugar coat things
very independent, iv never followed a crowd
Trustworthy. If you tell me something, it never leaves my lips

Bad:

extremely short temepered (early teens i had slight anger management issues) xD
outspoken nature has landed me in hot water both at work and within family
very private when it comes to displaying emotions. I dont open up quickly - family and friends, especially girls have been trying to get me to open up lately lol.
Unorganized
Lose stuff quickly eg keys, phone and recently bank card

Re: sensible/serious/awesome/discussion worthy thread

^ Creativity under pressure is very rare, and so is not having a herd mentality! People have loose lips, so keeping someone's secret is as rare as they come.

Unorganized part with uncanny ability to lose things - I used to be like that. But thanks to the wife, am better now! I have a nephew who probably is your twin in this aspect!

Re: sensible/serious/awesome/discussion worthy thread

Getting better control over the negative of being argumentative in an unhealthy way. have not been in one since Jan 21 when last posted. Baby steps.
