sending things to pakistan

salams

would anyone know what is the most reliable and economical way to send a gift to pakistan? apart from sending it with someone that is  the nature of items to send is makeup/perfume/cosmetics type stuff, just a small pack for a personal gift. i’ve seen some websites where you can get these items sent if u pay online and provide the postal address in pak but i don’t know how reliable they r…not to mention they ask double prices for everything…fedex is hecka expensive too…and i wud send it thru normal post, but i’m only too familiar with the pakistani postal system to make that mistake :hehe: once bitten twice shy :-/

if u have any ideas plz so post them…esp if u have had personal experience with some website etc…the stuff needs to be there no later than mar 13 and if koi aur raasta nazar nahen aya i’ll have no choice but to send the stuff thru fedex!!!

Irem. I have another type of problem, at the beginning of february my husband sent me some letters and post cards from pakistan that i never recieved. I don't know if the pakistani post is very reliable. That's why ppl stick with the old fashioned method of sending things to and out of pakistan, through people. I was wondering if other people have problems with recieving their letters, packages from Pakistan ?

Saadia baji,

Sorry to hear abt the letters and postcards :frowning: lekin abhee itni deyr naheen hui u still might get em inshallah…

I have the same problem here in America. more than half of the time i dont get the letters and cards etc ppl send to me from pak :frowning:

aap germany mein ho na? mummy ne bhai ko pakitani mail se eik package bheja tha, he is also in germany, and he got that…that was thru UPS tho i think…

And its not just the fault of our Pakistani postal system. In fact there was a big scandal in my college abt two yrs ago cuz the workers in the post office were just dumping freshly received mail in the garbage  then they did an investigation and fired all the staff and got new ppl…

bas yeh letters milna luck ki hi baat hoti hae, unless when its sent thru fedex or something…registered mail ka bhee koi theek naheen

khayr i hope u still get the letters and postcards, keep praying they might turn up, sometimes i end up gettiing mail months later

I have used some of the gift sites in Pakistan to have gifts delivered there and they have always been on time and of good quality.

mail to pakistan is a different issue altogether, I have not mailed a letter to Pakistan in over 10 years. teh family decided it was faster, more reliable and easier to fax letters instead.

with internet it became even easier.

My inlaws send us parcels of clothes and gifts all the time. They send it by regular post office mail and it is delivered here by USPS. Very reliable, and we can track it online too. Never had any problem with it. Its much cheaper than any other.

As for going the other way, i.e. from US to Pakistan, we have only sent greeting cards, and they also had 100% success rate. I think I only pay 92 cents for each eid card and it gets delivered in 8 business days. Can't beat that.

But have never sent a parcel.

I did send cakes and flowers occassionally to the family back home, using online websites. I used desistore.com once and they were reliable and prompt. Last time I used dearones.com and they were good too and much cheaper than desistore.com and especially because they delivered the next day (as usual I forgot a birthday till just 2 days before the date). The cost was $17, which includes a 2 lb cake and shipping. If anyone knows of a better option, please post here. Thanks.

thanks Fraud bhai and Faisal bhai, i'll check those out :)

thx

www.pakgift.com seems to be offering the service for kfc in 8/9 cities.

thanks heart beat

assalamoalikum :jhanda:

irem i would suggest that u use international courier and have the delivery recorded through the post office and it will reach its destination, that way the postmen in pakistan don’t open the gift themselves when they see mail imprined with the letters URGENT.

i have sent them like that myself and i have had no probs although our dakias are very unreliable but lately their recklessness has decreased.

:rotfl:

thanks for the info insolent mods bhai

laeeqkhan - its not funny acha :stuck_out_tongue: wait till u go thru that urself trust me its not fun :hehe:

Aslam o Alikum all

Re: sending things to pakistan

here are my thought and experience, I used to regularly send gifts to Pakistan to my family from UK via normal post. mostly delivered in less than 7 days. it depends if you live in bigger cities post is quick.

Everything was fine, but then Pakistani govt had its way and started charging custom duties and charges on these gifts, sometime more than the actual gift costs! and its across all courier methods. So had to stop, as they were charged to receive their gifts :)

Now, I use online Pakistani sites to deliver gifts, they are reliable and did deliver on time, no issues on that.

from Pakistan to UK, TCS, OCS are reliable and on time along with DHL and FedEX. normal post via recorded delivery take time but its trackable online even from UK mail websites as they are using international standards of tracking the packets.

Re: sending things to pakistan

I'm sure things may have improved in the last 7 years....

yup if anyone could give an updated version of the gift sites...
coz some of the sites mentioned are old..dont know if they are still reliable or not.
