Has anyone here in Usa/Canada or Europe received money from Pakistan?
How does it work?
What is the fastest and most reliable way to do it?
Is Pak currency easily exchanged for US/Canadian dollars there?
Any reliable money exhanges that do this that you know of?
I have sent to Pakistan but never received and am a bit weary about it.

There are several services to send money from Europe/USA to Pakistan almost instantly.
I don´t know if that works the other way around too.
Strongman sometimes it took less but usually 4-5 working days. They used Citibank or Standard Chartered in Pak.

Western Union will not work in Pakistan. In Pakistan you can only receive money through Western Union and not send at least that is what I experienced when I was in Pakistan [Gujranwala].
Bank Transfer is possible but when we approached UBL they said they want the letter from the University [wanted to send cash to my younger brother] since it is a requirement of the State Bank, apparently this is one of the measures taken to curb Islamic Financial assistance to for terrorist activities.
I think I would be easier if you have a foreign currency account in one of the Multi national banks. HSBC, Standard Charted or Citi.
Paindoo, I have heard this as well. I think in general the Pak govt discourages sending money out of the country. Did they give you the market rate for your Pak rupees that you were sending? or is it some ridiculous rate that some banks in Canada buy rupees at?
I think its a good idea (the foriegn currency account) that you mentioned at an international bank. You mentioned Gujranwala, I am near there (Wazirabad). Do you know of any there?
I could not get through the initial stage. Never came around to the rate part.
As for Multinational Bank is that Wazirabad or Gujranwala I do not think so. Lahore does have...

Waisay one day…tum dekh lena…they will have remit and also anti-remit facilities 
(i mean for sending money to pakistan and also from pakistan)
