sending measurements overseas.

hey guys!

So, about 2 days ago i got an email from my valima designer (layla) telling me that the jora i sent her as the measurements isnt enought.
Moreover, Bunto, whose doing my wedding outfit says she needs measurements as well.
So i went to a fabric store and bought a measuring tape and had my mom measure me in different places and send those measurements to the designers. Along with those measurements i also send them my height and my current weight.
Beacause Im going to pakistan in May for all the other wedding preps. I wount be able to change anything as my wedding suits inshallah should be here my march or late april.
Im sure these designers are both very experienced and extremely skilled but do you think the outfit will still fit fine. I asked a friend of mine who also had her wedding jora made from bunto and she said to give her atleast 2 inches more for the ghara as it might seem short with heels on.

Please do provide ur opinion> have any of you been thru this same issue? its so horrible having to worry abotu another thing but inshallah everythign will be ok.
Pray for me !!!
Aisha

Re: sending measurements overseas.

go on-line.....see hajra hayat or hsy's website--------they have a specific way of writing measurements....just measure wht they ask for and u should be good:)

this is wht I have for karma, but i know for sure bunto is more detailed cuz I have her measurement paper somewhere at home....its quite complicated--need back sizes shoulder sizes etc....

Shoulder to bust
empire line
shoulder to waist
shoulder to small hip
shoulder to hip
shirt length
chest
bust
waist
small hip
hip
shoulders
neckline front
neckline back
sleeves
lehnga length
lehnga waist

shoulder to shoulder (back)
shoulder to shoulder (across the top of the chest)
empire line
bust
waist
small hip
hips
shoulder to rib-cage
shoulder to (area where the shirt ends)

Gharara
waist
hip
small hip
thigh
length (add 1.5 inches)

Make sure they keep material inside so just incase u gain weight u can have it altered =) good luck!

If it helps, I’ve included a couple of measurement charts that have body diagrams as well. I was sent one by Karma and the other was from Faiza Samee…it may help?

Karma:

Faiza Samee:

Gina is so right about asking the designers to keep some material inside, because you just never know when it comes to the actual fitting.

I asked Bunto the same question and she said that they keep at least an inch inside, just to be sure.

what is the difference between small hip and big hips :S

Re: sending measurements overseas.

small hip is on ur hipbone (right where the bone is)....big hip is the fullest (widest part) of the hips..

Re: sending measurements overseas.

awww thanks so much guys !!!! i
got a reply from buntos daugher in law who manges the over sea orders and she says the measurements i send should be fine. And to send an outfit that fits me.
so lets see.

Good luck once again!

Re: sending measurements overseas.

i do agree abt the length of lehnga as it always get short when the bride sits, so i have also told to my designer amna to leave it 2-3 inches longer then usual.

1 more thing take the measurements of ur kurti while wearing the undergarments u r going to wear on ur wedding, my sis in law gave her regular size n wore padded garments on her wedding which made her kurti look too tight n bad. so be careful abt that.

u can have further fittings after a trial of ur lehnga, but remember its easy to make it tight but difficult to make it loose as the stitches marks willbe left on it.

Re: sending measurements overseas.

well, im actually not having a trial or anything at all. Hopefully the ghara should be here by april and inshallah ill be going to paksitan in may so i mean worst comes to worst i can take the ghara back to her to get it fixed or what not.
yea many brides have told me about how they also wore a paded bra to give their body a nicer curve lol.....
but i havent thought about all tht yet. lets see how it goes. When ever i get my outfit ill post a pic of it so you guys can see. So far from wht she has told me it sounds AMAZING!!!

Ok…y would htey need a measurment for the head?

Re: sending measurements overseas.

^ lol...I was thinking the exact same thing...i'm not aware of karma designing any headgear lately!

:rotfl:

Some brides were closed "gala's" they need it to be sure it goes over her head easily! LOL

Re: sending measurements overseas.

^Yeah?
I have yet to see a 'closed gala' these days. All you see (which is sad) is brides with galaaz stooping so low, their t*ts are hanging out, on display for all to enjoy.

Closed galaaz... Bah!
