Semi-formal re-designing help!

Gala kaam & sleeves ditto

I have a short shirt that has kaam on the gala exactly like this shirt. The sleeves & colour of the shirt is almost same as well; more to the maroonish side in fact.

The shirt is really short so can’t be worn with trousers or anything anymore. I love the kaam so I want to transform it into something flowy. I have a lot of chiffon fabric available the can be dyed.

What should i do with it?

  • Make the kaam part of jamawar the body of the dress & let the chiffon flow down
  • Make an open jacket style kind of shirt with it
  • Make an anarkali with the kaam as a yoke

what else?

Re: Semi-formal re-designing help!

I'd say make an open jacket style shirt with it...will look different..as kaam is on simpler side, this style will make it look more modern n pretty.

Re: Semi-formal re-designing help!

Firts dye the xtra chiffon tht u' ve in the background/base colour of ur short kaam shirt.
Keep the front kaam part of that shirt as is, as middle panel and, add lots of panels at its sides by increasing the length of each panel all the way upto the back (to your desired length). You will get a short front and increasing side panel tail style shirt.)

PS: Beleive me that would look very stylish

Re: Semi-formal re-designing help!

It sounds very stylish; any picture depicting it?

Re: Semi-formal re-designing help!

open jacket...i love them and i think this type of kaam can be easily salvaged that way into something long lasting.

Re: Semi-formal re-designing help!

This might help u in visualising and creating some what I was suggesting

Re: Semi-formal re-designing help!

I love open jackets but have soo many of them already.

Panache - How much fabric do you think will go for it, i mean the chiffon fall?

Re: Semi-formal re-designing help!

7-8 Yards for a good flaired ( panel) style Shirt/frock, like the one in the pic above.
