TabuB-: everything everyone has said here hasnt botherd me in the slightest, Infact gave me some giggles. Like i said before i shouldnt of posted I mean i have yet to come across a pakistani that doesnt like dolkis etc . I for one dont see a need for them, Thats why i was shocked when my friend made me pick n choose. Over a dolki. IMO a dolki has nothing to do with the nikkah. Now to make me pick between giving my bf a good birthday, (hence this is the only birthday i’ve spent with him i couldnt spend his last one with him due to personal reasons) I really set my heart on it, as i’ve been planning for ages. Now why am i gonna cancel those plans for someone that quite frankly doesnt give me respect, and has cancelled things on ME for her (then bf).
Anyways if she doesnt wanna be my friend for not attending her dolki. Its no skin off my nose. Thats up to her. And thats final really.

Again if someone can actually tell me why exactly people have dolkis, and why i’ve never seen it anywhere in islam. Do tell me is it cultural or religion?

I guess u didnt read my post ..that i too as a pakistani ..is against dolki not just cos islam says so ..its cos theres no bloody point to it ..like u said ..its got nothing to do with the nikah or the walima..its just a stupid hindi cultural thing that got carried into pakis when pak was made ..and pakis think its part of the wedding ..hell no it aint ..part of islam either…BUT ..if your trying to justify dolki npt being part of islam ..which u did rightly and no one can disagree ..can you now justify having a bf in islam or is it a cultural thing ..

end of the day .. after what 3 4 pages .. there isnt a point of this thread ..simple as that…
