Self sufficiency OR sharing is caring?

Are you some one who is self sufficient for everything like your clothes, jewellery, cds, makeup, etc. or you wouldn’t mind borrowing it from your friend? cousin? bhabi? etc.

Do you think it effects the relation? In some cases, i have seen people like it because they can share it and enjoy it when some one is wearing some thing that they known. For others, they totally dislike it and feel people dot take care of things well and therefore they themselves avoid borrowing anything.

Re: Self sufficiency OR sharing is caring?

depends on how close you are with the person really. I share everything with my sister.

My sister shares things with her SILs occasionally, but both, before borrowing things always check with each other if it's ok to do so first. This is mainly accessories.

I have been sharing my clothes and make up and accessories with my friends for ages. My best friend had a disastrous choice in clothes and lets say well she was a bit of a kanjoos as well. So any major event she'd have an outfit from my cupboard on !!!! But only if I have already worn them first. That kind of got annoying later on when she expected to always get something off me if we went out !!!!

I have also borrowed items from friends but these instances were extremely rare. I do not like taking stuff from people. If I do not have something then i'd rather just be w/o it or will buy it later on.

Only never borrowed/lent shoes though. Thank god !!!!!

Re: Self sufficiency OR sharing is caring?

I hate borrowing anything even if its a tissue or qtip

Re: Self sufficiency OR sharing is caring?

men rarely borrow, or at least i dont know any one who does it.

Re: Self sufficiency OR sharing is caring?

I HATE SHARING!!!! I don't like people taking my things because it's unhygenic. The only person that I occassionally share things with is my sister because I know she will take good care - but this happens very rarely. And I avoid borrowing too, but if I do, I borrow mostly from my sister, but I'm moving away soon, so I won't be able to share with anyone anymore. :(

Re: Self sufficiency OR sharing is caring?

Generally self sufficient but I don’t mind my sister or friends borrowing my things, occasionally I may borrow something but not very often.
Probably because I would feel like I’m cheating on my wardrobe

Re: Self sufficiency OR sharing is caring?

I don't like to borrow anything from others neither i do .. but if some one ask me for any thing i cant say no ... :)

Re: Self sufficiency OR sharing is caring?

I don't mind sharing accessories like jewelry, bags, scarves etc with my friends. I avoid borrowing clothes, but if I have to, i make sure I return them after putting them through the washing machine first.

Re: Self sufficiency OR sharing is caring?

I've never had to share much since me and sister are totally different sizes. We did share accessories when she wasn't married. Occasionally me and my cousin (we are also super close friends) share either a pair of shoes or accessories. I don't mind sharing really depends on who it is and what it is. Oh, I don't appreciate people taking my stuff without asking. Happened to me when I was visiting Pakistan.

Re: Self sufficiency OR sharing is caring?

I prefer not to borrow....but if I do....it depends on who the person is and how close I am to them.

With sharing.....it also depends on who the person is....and the object in question. Something of huge value to you is easily shared with family and very close friends, but with others you might hesitate.

I remember how much you love to share food. :halo:

I remember how you thought stealing was the same as sharing. Tsk tsk. :halo:
