Have any of you considered teaching yourself the courses/subject matter that you have always wanted to learn but never really got a chance to do. With MIT’s online display of courses, it provides a great opportunity for poeple to learn most of the technology related courses on their own if they have the motivation and drive.
What sort of courses? I tend to start and then my attention goes elsewhere. sigh
They have 500 courses right now from all across the departments. You should check out the site and see if they have listed a course you like.

Do they have the lectures available online as well? If so, can any random person access it?

In some cases yes they do have the lectures online as well, but for now its mostly the class notes, the problem sets and answers etc. Eventually I have heard it will include everything (meaning videos of lectures, class notes, problem sets and answers etc).
And yes anyone can access it. By 2007 I believe they plan to have every single course completely available online for everyone.
