Has anyone heard about it. Is it not cruel to torture yourself? Torturing oneself due to religious reasons is a different issue and I won’t say anything about it but self inflictions for seeking pleasure, thinking that you are responsible for problems in your life or any other reason is wrong, IMHO.
Have you ever come across people who think that they have been responsible for problems in their life coz I was shocked when I heard about this girl who used to inflict herself by burning her body using hot iron. It was a story about a desi girl in the UK. I don’t know if it happens in a desi society as well.
Also, self inflictions for pleasure are they related to some psychological problems or is it the society has started to accept it.
I think most of know the answer to this. It is sad and baffeling to see the case KS points out. I would venture to chalk this up to psychological issues.
I actually wanted to point out this issue coz once I saw this program about a desi girl who felt alienated from her family and the family didn’t take care of her so she started burning her body by hot iron
Also, when I said for pleasure purpose then I also meant the inflictions that people go through to enjoy sex as I don’t understand it either. If sex is to be enjoyed then how can people think of bringing pain element into it.
What you correctly observed is a number of serious & severe psychological disorder & can happen to any person although more to women .Like Trichotilomania is a condition in which the girl swallows bunch of her hair .Very soon she looks bald & harried added to her disturbed psychological face of mental instituions.
I am a Masochism, a condition where people find pleasure in pain. And it is not related to sexual pain, nor is it a physical issue. You can be a Masochist by inflicting mental pain, and get pleasure and satisfaction... for example listening to punk rock at really high volumes.
It's a great thing, try it sometimes.

how would you be in pain by listening to punk rock? i enjoy doing that sometimes myself but i dont see the pain in it, but its wierd its like tthe rock music controls your body, anyone experienced that before?
as for inflicting pain on yourself, its hharam in any waaay and form because the body you have is a trust from Allah and your sposed to take care of it
