Re: Self Help Books - Do they really work?
I actually hate self help books. Never go near them.
Once someone recommended a book called "Feel the Fear and do it anyway". It was just lying on my shelf for ages. I kept looking at it but just could not read it. I found out I actually had a fear of reading the book itself LOL.
In fact its still lying on my shelf...I better return it I guess.

Re: Self Help Books - Do they really work?
There are some good self-help books and from my experience they do help but, i would suggest you to get engaged in the life. They should not be a way to escape..

Re: Self Help Books - Do they really work?
self-help books and self-help seminars are truely an oxymoron.

Re: Self Help Books - Do they really work?
if teh book is good and you have a real will to make a positive change but need guidance and direction and the book provides it, and you make a real effort to apply it, then yes.
I can speak from personal experience that when I hit a low point during college years, some self help stuff not only got me out of the funk, but made me accomplish what just a year ago was not even a realistic aspiration for me.
Re: Self Help Books - Do they really work?
I swear to God.
One day I was looking through the shelves in “chapter”, I looked at this book, which had rather funky cover page. Title was funny to “how to ignore ever one”
It was a small book and so I looked at it(usually I don’t even go in self help book section)
I swear, It was like some one stole my ideas, all 39 of them, and wrote them in that book. Most of the things I have said right here, and I was mocked too ![]()
It was newYork’s time’s best seller.
Book was how about ppl with exceptional quality can save their virtue and pursue their dreams, with out turning their lives to nightmare.
That day I wanted to ask TLK to pay me for posting ![]()
.. chalo kheer:D
Yes they work. I don't like calling them Self Help though. Self development is a better word.
