Several self-exiled leaders of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) have returned to the country quietly to participate in the upcoming elections due on January 8, 2008, TheNation learnt on Sunday. Well-placed sources told that some of the self-exiled leaders of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement including a senior member of MQM Coordination Committee, Saleem Shahzad, and the other committee members, Muhammad Ashfaq, Javaid Kazmi and Dr Nadeem Ahsan, reached Karachi and they are likely to contest the upcoming general elections.
The sources added that the said leaders would submit their nomination papers for national and provincial assemblies on Monday (today).
It is worth mentioning here that some other leaders including** Raza Haroon and Abu Sufyan Yousaf** have already filed their nomination papers after returning home a few days back.
The aforementioned leaders came back after the promulgation of National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO).
