Pros: i dont have to scrub till my hands are sore and my nails black.
Cons: If you have oil drippings in the oven, during the cleaning process, it can emit really strong fumes which can be suffocating in a small kitchen or apartment.
It works really well and saves you a lot of elbow grease, we just put it on at night and by the time we wake up its all clean......................I guess it could be a problem for small kitchens.......

how exactly does it work? you push a button and add oven cleaner?
The only con is it create really strong fumes. Otherwise its easy to clean with out scrubbing.

apparently you don't have to add anything.
you set the oven and it locks so that you cannot open it.
it then heats to an incredible level so as to burn off any drippings etc.......

We have always had self-cleaning ovens and have never used the feature.

If there are lot of food-crumbs in the oven, it give pretty strong fumes while those crumbs are burning. Now it also uses lost of power.
So if you are in Ontario, make sure you do it after 9pm :)

I use this feature once in a few months. Works great. All the sticky burnt stuff gets reduced to ash and all you have to do is wipe it off.
The only challenge is that you cannot use your stove for the duration (I do 2 hours). You can turn your exhausts on.
Personally, I love it!

After 9 pm people here get paid to use electricity.
