Selector files complaint against Farhat

Re: Selector files complaint against Farhat

Next time Farhat needs the answer to "why was I not picked?", maybe he should try giving me a call. Bloody shmuck.

Re: Selector files complaint against Farhat

I am not fan of Imran Farhat. But he did score a “lot” of runs in the domestic matches. Not asking for his selection but there is no harm in letting a player know why he is being dropped. Why the runs were not good enough.

Ask me and he yes I agree totally with Faisal that he is temperamental and inconsistent. Can think of number of occasions when he would just charge down the wicket, the situation of the match not requiring it, and get out. Perhaps after getting his runs he threw away his wicket in the same manner? Perhaps he scored all his runs against weaker oppositions and failed against better ones?

Additionally if a players is required by the code of conduct of the PCB to not question the SC then he should follow the code that he has agreed to follow.

If my memory serves me correctly I do recall that previously as well on the omission of Imran Farhat his FIL was vocal and was giving statements in the local media. I don’t think he is bound by the PCB code but nevertheless being a former cricket and a sportsman he should know better and avoid doing it as this will not help his “National Hero’s” case.

Furthermore I am also willing to believe that Imrah Fahat did not put in a polite/suitable enquiry to the selectors in regards with his omission nor was his intentions behind genuine to improve.

BUT I think the SC should let players know as to why they are being dropped from the team. They should let the players know what they require of them and what they will be looking for as sometimes the obvious is not so obvious. (Don’t expect our national team Players or all of them to be so analytical as you. Most of them hardly cleared their 10th grade. )
Example:
Shaun Tait was selected for his pace and ability to take wickets. Perhaps a different SC might have preferred some one who was not as express but accurate.

Shahid Afridi is another example some would want him to open others think he should be a complete bowler and then his batting is a bonus. Some think he should open on subcontinent wickets and not abroad. So what is required of Afridi?

So what is the harm in the SC letting Afridi know if for instance they want him to concentrate on his bowling and his selection depending on his bowling figures and his batting being bonus. Or vice versa?

PCB has being talking of bringing in a corporate culture and a new look and feel to Pakistan Cricket. What is wrong in improving communications? Why cant the SC let a player know and I mean every player in the camp know why he was dropped maybe let every selected player also know why he was selected?

Re: Selector files complaint against Farhat

Not trying to justify Imran Farhat or his father-in-law's actions but Farhat was apparently offered a lucrative contract to play league cricket in England this Summer. The PCB stopped him from going to England and asked him to attend the training camp for Abu Dhabi series....now Farhat lost everything, he was n't selected neither can he go to England now.

Re: Selector files complaint against Farhat

He has now been selected in the conditioning camp for the openers. Thats a good sign I guess. But apparently Yasir Hameed is not in that list so it seems that they want to use Yasir as a middle order batsmen.

Re: Selector files complaint against Farhat

Yeah - but coming to the camp is no guarantee that you would be selected for the team. Farhat knows that. He could also have delayed his league contract or asked for a clause that enables him to leave if selected for the team, otherwise he could return to the league. It isent rocket science, everyone does that.

Khair, Farhat shouldnt be in the team anyway. Him and Hafeez have had several chances and they couldnt grab them, so its time to move on. I also believe Hafeez shouldnt be in the team either, but it looks like his Chacha/Mamma may be pals with Nasim Asharaff which is why he always escapes the axe despite averaging 18.05.
