Brings tears to ones eyes every time you read about him and Hazrat Abu Bakr (r.a). They both deserved it the most, that is why ALLAH allowed their bodies to be lying very next to the Prophet (SAW) in his final resting place (Home of Hazrat Ayesha R.A) till the day of judgement.

Everything happens with the will of ALLAH, and HE chooses for his prophet (SAW) the best companions.

Also lets not forget his brother Zayd b Khattab R.A who died a martyr in the Riddah wars
