Seeing dead relative in dream

Dreams, a subject I have never paid attention too.. I would like to learn what is the general view on these kind of dreams, (seeing relatives that have passed away long ago).. I know it could be that one is thinking about the relative and he goes to sleep thinking and sees them in a dream. What if this is not the case? Is there some special meaning?

Again, just give me some general view that I can work with… with source if possible.

actually it depends upon the way you see them, what was their mood, what the said, what they were wearing .. all that
