Re: Secular Pakistan: ‘Pakistanis should know Quaid’s Aug 11 speech by heart’
i have bolded the bits i was talking about. statements can be made, and arguments put forward without resorting to name calling ,, like calling others myopic, illerate, naive or pre-pubescent........that was the only thing i was talking about...see the personal attack sort of thing is the speciality of right wing, bigotted, religous, retarded pakistanis.......... doesn't look good when anyone else does it.
Cry me a river.
(Don't mean to nitpick, but I did say pubertal. Somehow pre-pubescent doesn't sound sufficiently insulting).
Change the law and struggle for it just like anyone is expected to do so.
Why should anyone have to struggle for it? You claim that Zia did not represent the people, so what legitimacy does his legislation have? Why do you oppose it being repealed? Two politicians have been murdered in the attempt to reform it, how do you expect people to 'struggle' for it?
P.S. Writing 'we' and 'us' does not mean the person really belongs to, or has, (or even had) anything remotely to do with being a Pakistani. Just saying. ;)
Why stop there? Why not also conclude that I'm not "remotely" Muslim? ;)
When you decide to refute my arguments instead of my identity, I might take you seriously. Unfortunately for you, none of my ideas are unique. They're shared by countless informed citizens, politicians, lawyers, human rights advocates, intellectuals and religious scholars who live in your country. Labeling people un-Pakistani, liberal, irrelevant, or enemies of the state does little to invalidate their arguments. Nobody committed to social justice, nobody who understands how religious amendments to the Constitution have undermined Pakistan's penal code would defend the blasphemy law. You invoke tolerance and human rights only when it serves you. If you don't respect the concept of inclusive citizenship at home, you probably deserve to be persecuted in countries where you are a minority. Learn to treat others like you want to be treated, or expect what goes around to come around.
