So in the city we live in North America, a rich desi Muslim businessman has four wives, all living in this city, and all know about each other. Of course only one is legal, but because there are no laws against fornication in these countries, govt can’t come after the guy. Point is, legal aspect can’t be used as an excuse fir keeping a marriag secret.

yes, i believe that a Muslim MUST have the respect for the ‘law of the land’ because he/she chose to live and raise the family there. i consider hiding from the government a crime in the sight of law and a cheating in the sight of religion. cheating is NOT condoned in Islam or any other religion. however, the act of secretly marrying itself may NOT be a sin but cheating definitely IS!
