Second Life - Virtual world

I don’t know if anyone’s seen this. Second Life is a virtual reality world where you go in and setup your life. Here’s how they describe this:

"Second Life is a 3-D virtual world entirely built and owned by its residents. Since opening to the public in 2003, it has grown explosively and today is inhabited by a total of 1,097,242 people from around the globe.

* From the moment you enter the World you'll discover a vast digital continent, teeming with people, entertainment, experiences and opportunity. Once you've explored a bit, perhaps you'll find a perfect parcel of land to build your house or business."

Re: Second Life - Virtual world

Whats the point of having a so called virtual life though? If you think about it, its quite a lie! You can communicate on the internet but you cannot live on the internet!!!

Re: Second Life - Virtual world

apprently they have been able to raise $20 Million dollars for this site through investors.. :)

Re: Second Life - Virtual world

And cuz of all the advertising money coming in the IRS wants a piece of the pie from them. Who'da thunk!

Re: Second Life - Virtual world

well all of the ppl on the forums n stuff have tht…even u…

umm…no not really..we interact with ppl …n wht’s a lie in it…

yea..this is true…but a lot of things do change in ppl due to interaction with others…jus like in real life…this change may be in opinion, nature, character, perspective etc etc…

Re: Second Life - Virtual world

What i meant was you cannot have a virtual life e.g. buy virtual property and live in it, it is only fantasy like computer games. You can only communicate and have storage i.e. contributions such as websites on the internet which isnt really classed as living. Its great to have an internet community especially if one is far from real people but this is classed as "communications" and not "virtual living".

Re: Second Life - Virtual world

more waste of time :)

Re: Second Life - Virtual world

That's what life is, SPEND time. You can either waste it or bring it to use. Its all in the perspective german dude.

Re: Second Life - Virtual world

yeah.. have trouble keeping up with expenses in the first life.. they want more money to spend on the second?

that's the reason i don't play WoW .. stupid monthly fees.. who wants to shell out for the game first and then a monthly expense for the 'privilege' of playing it..

Re: Second Life - Virtual world

I've been on there 2-3 days and haven't spent any money. Plus if ur good at graphic art u can make money there. Sun just had a webinar on that platform, so the community is growing. We can have a whole community growing there doing different things.
