yes, some people really do suffer from it. When the nights are short, and the sunshines less, the weather is dark, damp and cold, some people do get depressed.

Sunshine is a wonderful thing and when people are deprived of it for long periods of time, their levels of vitamin D go down, other levels of nutrients decrease and depression can set in. Washington state in USA - the state with the highest amount of rainfall anywhere in US, also has the highest rate of suicide in the country. Almost every day is a rainy day there. So there must be something to it.
SAD can be treated if you seek help for it. They use something similar to a tanning bed to give you a good dose of the healthier (if there is such a thing) rays. I for sure get very impatient for spring, not clinically depressed but pretty close to it during the last weeks of winter.

I seriously get very very veryyyyy depressed each and every winter without fail. I think I have it but just not been diagnosed yet.

I cannot stand silence, it makes me feel like a prisoner in a psychiatric ward or something and greys and blues are not pretty... they're sad :(
