Search for bridal fabrics

Hi everyone, I am looking to make a wedding dress for my baraat and valima in pure organza faric but I cant seem to find the good quality in the market. All I can find is tissue fabric which is kind of stiff and doesnt have the same shine as organza. Is it okay to get kaam over organza fabric? Is it too delicate for heavy kaam? Please can anyone help me? I am based in Rawalpindi.

Re: Search for bridal fabrics

Hi,
Congratulation on getting married. I personally think that organza is a very stiff material as it is and work/ embroidery will make it look even more stiffer. One of my friends had a long organza shirt with lehnga underneath and the shirts sides and bottom ( Chaak and Daman they call it I guess) started rolling inwards due to the heaviness of work. My wedding is in December and I am getting my Baraat lehnga made from Kamdani Fashion Ka ghar. As per my research mostly bridals are made on Pure chiffon even the heavy ones and that's what I am getting too not just because of this but also because the falls of pure chiffon are beautiful and end results are very neat and flattering. I have seen many designers using organza dupattas made with chiffon dresses these days but I would recommend you take an expert's help before buying the material.

Re: Search for bridal fabrics

Thanks Javeria I am glad you answered. But just two years back when my sister was getting married, all the markets in Rawalpindi said they don't work on net as it is difficult to work on net. But now all the shops are working on net as well. I think it is only a matter of time they start working on organza. Secondly, I think the organza fabric available in the market is not the same kind that I have seen many designers using. I wish I could upload pictures here. It looks really shiny and a lehnga made from such a material gives a very nice look. I can't afford a designer that's why I came on this forum to look for advice:)

Re: Search for bridal fabrics

I have only been to Pak twice in my life so don't know much about what has been In and out. The bridal shirt I am talking about was few months back. I think you can upload pics as I have seen in other forums. Or send a link here in messages of the pic. Shops in Purana Qila might have the fabric you are talking about. X

Re: Search for bridal fabrics

When is your wedding ?? I am getting married this December ❤️InshAallah

Re: Search for bridal fabrics

Finding pure fabrics in Islamabad/ Rawalpindi is quite a nightmare! You'll probably have to get it sourced from Lhr/ Khi.
I personally feel that getting the traditional heavy embroidery (zardozi, stone work) on organza might not be a great idea because the fabric is very light. However if you're going for lighter embroideries than i'm guessing your outfit will turn out great!
See if you can consult some reputed designer. Rani Eman is an option. The problem with places like Fashion ka Ghar is that if you discuss with them this idea - they'll plainly reject the possibility! Primarily because THEY don't work with this fabric!

Re: Search for bridal fabrics

Hi JAveria:)
Thanks for your reply, I am getting married in december as well most probably :woho:
I think @Nemah is absolutely right, I have seen these fabrics on many designers pages but I havent seen them in the market. As she suggests I want tohave a really really big flare with light dabka or resham embroidery on daman. I really hope i find that fabric. I don’t have the budget to consult the designers. If I am able to get the stuff from LAhore I’ll be gladly able to travel there  Just needsome more guidance.. And I have been trying to upload pics but I am not able to, The image uploader always gives some error :frowning:

Re: Search for bridal fabrics

@Jav3ria, Where are you getting your bridal dress made? @Nemah, Thankyou so much for your reply! I was also suspecting that these fabrics are not actually available in the market here. So what do you suggest other than the option of going to a designer? Should I source them from Lahore? As I have a few relatives there. Where would I be able to find that shiny stuff in red color?:)

Re: Search for bridal fabrics

Last timeI went to Fashion ka Ghar was a few month back, and they had already started working on net! I saw very beautiful fully worked net dupattas there as well. However 2 years back when my sister was going to get married, they plainly rejected the idea of working on net fabric as they deemed it too fragile :(

Re: Search for bridal fabrics

I think the fabric I am talking about is called tissue silk :@

Re: Search for bridal fabrics

@laylahai, I am getting it made from Fashion Ka ghar. The guy called Zahid is very cooperative and didn't mind after I cancelled the previous dress. I sure have given him a hard time. Also my fiancée just came back from Pak after ordering my walima outfit and he said it's shocking how prices in Lahore are higher as compared to Pindi x

Re: Search for bridal fabrics

You can always contact him and show the fabric, design and budget. I am sure he will try to accommodate something in your budget.

Re: Search for bridal fabrics

Really Prices in Lahore are higher as compared to Pindi?? I thought the opposite is true!
Thats good for us then:) I am also considering Fashion ka ghar for my dress.
Your fiance is getting the dress for you? How sweet is that <3

Re: Search for bridal fabrics

I know he Is a real sweetheart MashAllah. He shopped for my walima dress and all the other formal, semi formals even the shoes, bags etc ❤️ LOL. Have you booked a MUA or venue yet?? Also there is another place called Ali fashion Gallery in Purana Qila. I am not a big fan of their bridal but they had few good peices and the price is lower than Fashion Ka Ghar. Their party wear is beautiful. My reason for not placing an order with them is just because it's hard to follow up with small businesses when you are abroad. But my sisters ordered 4 outfits from them for the event. Lemme know if you need their address. X

Re: Search for bridal fabrics

The fabric you are talking about is easily and readily available in lahore, Liberty. Even though I live in Islamabad, I ordered and had all my clothes made from Lahore, the quality of work and design aesthetic is really good. It is probably tissue, and is used extensivly by Deena, her designs have an old world charm to them and are exquisite.

Re: Search for bridal fabrics

Congrats on your wedding.

Answering your questions: Pure organza is available in rawalpindi and you can easily get it plus get kaam done on that as well, heavy or light, doesn't matter. You'll have to specifically ask for it though. It comes in white and generally not on display so you'll have to get it dyed. If you ask any matching center in china center or rabi center they'll have it. If you need an exact shop name and number, I can refer some.

All pure fabrics are available in rawalpindi, you just have to know where to go.

Re: Search for bridal fabrics

Hi javeria, I am dying to get any testimonials for the shops in purana qilla, can you send me the pics on my email id? I sure eant to see their work. Two years back my sister had a bad experience in purana qilla. The shop didn't deliver her dress and it was horrible my father was very angry. Now he dislikes the idea of raja Bazar although their prices are heaven sent compared to fashion ka Ghar etc. He thinks the hassle of going there is too much for saving a few thousands.
Do they deliver the dresses on time? What was the price range?

Re: Search for bridal fabrics

Hi, thanks a lot. Please recommend me the shops I'll ve grateful ;) rabi centre is achievable for me:)

Re: Search for bridal fabrics

@Sundae
Its the same look I want, an old world charm:)
Its really not possible for me to go to lahore I just wish I could. U are right their quality and aesthetic sense are much better than those in Rawalpindi...

Re: Search for bridal fabrics

Hey, I don't have much experience with the shopping in Pak tbh. the guy seemed nice and had good reviews from the customers who came to pick up thier orders whilst we were there. But it's difficult to communicate and keep a track of what they are doing as compared to Fashion Ka ghar that was the only reason I didn't order my bridal outfit there. I can send you the pics if you share the email :) Some of their outfits are same as FKG are selling, exactly the same but with a huge price difference.
