Seafood..

i was asked today… why is seafood halaal ?

wasnt so sure :konfused:

Re: Seafood..

and u didnt try to c onfuse that person by asking back “y shud it be haram”?

no??

well u shud:chai:

Re: Seafood..

why should some land animals be haraam then :konfused:

Re: Seafood..

y sum shud be halal??

Re: Seafood..

Not ALL seafood is halaal - fishes are fine. You can eat flounder, scrod, tuna, all the fishes of sea and stream. But bottom-feeders (shellfish) are haraam - clams, shrimp, lobster, crabs. Basically the same I think as Kosher rules.

I thought actually that Halaal foods and the rules came from the same set of rules as for Kosher. But there are rules like never mix meat and dairy in order to be kosher. Why is this not a rule for Halaal?

Re: Seafood..

all the sea food is halal mo3 even dead animals of sea r halal

and kosher rules r not apllied to us cuz we r simply not “jews”

we r muslims and our rules r different than “jews”

yeah sum r same but they r following old rules and we muslims r using new rules according to our prophet

end of story :chai:

and y is that???:konfused:

Re: Seafood..

The bottom feeders eat feces, I think this is what makes them haraam. I always thought so anyway but KB says that ALL seafood is fine…now I’m confuzzled.

update: ok I googled it and you’re right KB! All of the creatures of the sea are “generally” considered halaal but there is “some” debate on the status of shellfish. Woo-hoo! Lobster tonite anyone?!!

Re: Seafood..

oh they do???

i wonder y i can find every bottom feeder in all the restaurants here???

and ppl eat them and then go and pray in the mosque uff!!! !!! :smack:

:@:

Re: Seafood..

NOTE: my question is NOT what is halal and wat is not or if all of them are halaal..

MY question is why is seafood halaal in general?

Re: Seafood..

ok I did a little more google-ing on this and from what I've read so far, they do not seem to eat feces. However, they DO eat carrion (dead flesh) and are also cannibals which could be of concern to some Islaamic scholars.

Brisbane, the link to wiki above explains where the laws governing halaal come from and why....

is fishes a word?

In short, the plural “fish” is used to describe more than one of the same species. The plural “fishes” is used to describe fish of varying species.

Re: Seafood..

ok ok BIB i got ur question

u mean that sum ppl say that we dont say takbeer for sea food and they dont even eat it just bcuz of that

they say we dont halal the fish and stuff so its not halal

bhai i think that we need to halal onlyland animals cuz they have alot of blood in them u need to take blood out of animals b4 eating them cuz blood is haram

thats y we slaughter them

u know the animals that r hunted have to be slaughtered b4 they die if they die b4 u slaughter them u cant eat them they r considered haram cuz blood remains in them b4 they were dead and dead animals r haram

but sea food doesnt have much of blood so it doesnt need to be taken out

i think thats y

only my theory i know many ppl can shed better light than me

big fih eat smaller fish :@:

and alot of sea animals eat dead things so .......................

dead of sea is halal for human so y not they can be halal for prawns and lobsters:@:

Though “fish”(plural) for describing different species is also correct.

well i guess many land animals have little blood too .. like hmm parrots? insects?

Re: Seafood..

any animal that eats things while holding them in their wat r they jo parrots ke paaon hote hain "panje" or watever they r those animals r haram

any animal that tears meat from its fangs and claws is haram

there r many conditions u just cant put watever stuff u see in ur mouth

Re: Seafood..

insects are generally haraam but LOCUSTS are halaal!!

Locust pie anyone?

Re: Seafood..

so no solid answer :konfused:
