I have always had a passing interest in astrology. How many of you are scorpios or have scorpio family members in your households? What methods do you feel are best to deal with them? As improbable as it may seem, I have noticed that scorpio people have a strong tendency to keep grudges longer than others and they are quite secretive, sometimes about issues that require no secrecy whatsoever. Secretive for the sake of being so. What have your experiences been like?

I am. And yes these are all true for me. But I don't think anyone has had to "deal with me" in a special way. Though mum does tell me I'm a bit too reserved and quiet and has asked me to change that about myself.

My SO is a Scorpio, and none of that is true for him. He doesn't hold grudges, actually puts everything on the table until a proper conclusion is achieved. He has no secrets, he lets everything out the first second it comes to his mind.
I don't believe in this astrology stuff. I mean how can you apply 12 types of personalities to billions of people? Human behavior is so complex and diverse for it to fall into such categories.

I have recently learned that if someone hurts me reallly badly, I don't get over it easily, if at all.
Hmm... ok, now that I am thinking about it, my anger does take a little longer to dissipate. I think my family just lets me be when I am angry. I don't think I am any extra secretive though. I have my trustworthy people and they get to hear whatever needs to be heard. I actually may be guilty of sharing a little too much.
A cousin is also Scorpio. I don't think he keeps grudges and I've never felt that he's secretive. He's a veryyy simple guy.

oh wow i didnt know there were so many scorpios here. i knew bbq was one but thas it.
I am! I noticed most of those qualities in me since i was 6 or 7 especially the being passionate/intense/seductive/obsessive......., i really didn't understand why i was like that and never really read astrology until i was in college and then some of the qualities that seemed abnormal made sense to me.
grudges/secretive thing, not so much b/c those are flaws that need to always be worked on, i am stubborn to a degree, my mom has told me that's the case
still i tell people i don't believe in such things like astrology :p
One my besties is a scorpio she's lovely - I don't believe is astrology but I do see similar traits in personalities of same star signs. I've had some bad experiences with scorpios they def have a sting in that tail.

haha. its amusing how alike people who share starsigns are, despite the fact that yeah i dont believe in it very much either. all the scorpios here though, what would you say is your stand out trait?

^ I haven't had a good experience with geminis. I'm scorpio and ditto Nisha what she said about being obsessive/passionate, etc etc I can't keep secrets though, just have a big mouth, wish i could though.

I am a scorpio..secretive but NO.. I dont keep grudges!! thats not true.. I forgive & forget!!

my hubby is a scorpio and yeah i think he does keep grudges for ages
and is constantly stressing bout little things and thinks too much...but dont think he is secretive

Maybe I should redefine the secretive thing.
Its more like theres a need to keep things to yourself. Possessiveness is in excess, and therefore certain information is also just my own so to speak. Sometimes its just a secret for the heck of it. For instance, where I have been. I might have been out shopping but I wont tell where exactly. Or what I bought. Ill hedge the question
Careerwise, what is your take on scorpios?

^i think the thing is that there are some qualities that we just don't want to reveal about ourselves or we don't realize we possess, i just realized i'm like that too, if at the moment i don't want to tell somebody else what i was doing/feeling at a certain i kind of fudge it too. secretive to a degree and i am possessive b/c i tend to put my all into a relationship(my only past one), like it would be like a big project for me, so in terms of all departments i would try my hardest to make it work. unfortunately these things can't be onesided. if anybody puts their all into a relationship, a person would tend to feel a bit jealous and possessive.
the passionate/intense thing with scorpios, is it just me. they say that if it's too much that it can be used as an advantage, the scorpio is at the bottom and when we rise above the ashes and conquer our dark sides of possessiveness and obsession, we become like the rising phoenix
career wise they say we make great detectives(love a good mystery, and love to get to the bottom of things), cops, polticians, sex therapists, investigators......we obsess over getting the work done.

One of my favorite students is a scorpio and the idea of him being secretive....is hilarious. He blurts out anything regarding himself and even others. There's no form of censorship, lol. It can be annoying, but class would be rather dull without him.
I remember learning about the PT Barnum Effect in my psych class. It's a strategy implemented by astrologers and fortune tellers...where they word the descriptions of a personality/future in a way that it can easily apply to the individual or a group of people.
Also, many of the zodiac signs are animals....and animals/colors/etc are associated with certain qualities and traits..and you can find that in literature as well. For example, lions are considered kings of the jungle....so is it really surprising that a lion would be said to embody qualities associated with roylaty? Maybe people saw the constellations in shape of the animals first.....and then came up with qualities associated with that animal....and THEN connected them to people born under that sign.

But then, this could be true for a taurus, aries, sagittarius or whoever... so I agree with Gaia on this one.. I don't believe in astrology.

I don't believe astrology can predict the future but I do believe people born around the same time frame exhibit similar traits.

It's actually not just 12 types of personalities. Astrology is very, very broad. Being a Scorpio (and mystery loving), I have been studying astrology on and off, for funsies. Your personality depends on what side of the sky each planet fell on, at the time of your birth. Each side (there are 12) denotes an area of a your life. Then in addition to Scorpio sun sign, for example, there's also your moon sign and ascendent and what-not.
So, the Sun sign gives a very basic personality structure. Like, I am more passionate than a practical Taurus (I haven't studied other scorps so I don't know what stands out for most scorps, but I know enough taurians). My moon sign is Pisces, which makes me an emotional person. So, I have the worst of both worlds :p. I am passionate and emotional. Ok, not the worst, but I need to put in a little work to keep my feet on the ground (I have been learning this lately and loving the calm that comes with it).
