While i like this idea better than free laptops and all for it. Scooties give freedom to women of middle class.
But why did they have to use the name Scooty. Its brand name of a female scooters of a Indian company called TVS.
Also why did they have to steal the TVS scooty ad

No harm in girls riding scooties. It is about priorities.
If you ever try to ride in a mini-van used for public transport in Pakistan, you'd know how one could feel humiliated and disgusted at your life at the same time.
If the government introduced 10 comfortable public transport buses instead of 200 scooties or introduced computer labs at 10 schools instead of dishing out 1,000 laptops, it would benefit a lot more people at same cost. Giving goodies to a select few doesn't make a difference or sense.

You are right, i am all against free give aways by democratic govt leader. It presents them just short of a generous king or even a dictator.
Though India has a free bicycle program for girls in rural areas which helps girls coming out of their houses and ride to distant schools and which is support. it is different.
Girls buses are better than free laptops or scooties. But at the same time govt should amend the policies to allow manufacturing of ladies two wheeler vehicles and give tax breaks to female buyers. Thats something a govt should do. It should not be given for free but should be encouraged through private sector.
Scooties give freedom to women and its benefits are also reaped by elderly and handicapped.

This shows the shortsightedness of the rulers and their vision for the nation. The "Paris of Pakistan" whose government hospitals are teeming with fake medicines and operations theaters are without electricity and operating tables, where 70% of traffic signals do not work and drinking water is non-consumable in 80% of the city, is set to dish out scooties for some cheap publicity.

same things that "awaam" did to peeli taxi failed scheme.

Ok so where is the opposition in all this?? It is the taxpayer's money. Why should a few selected individuals benefit from this...And yes as a poster already mentioned, these will be sold off at the first opportunity. Makes me soo angry.

I know a man who have peeli tax and he doesnt give any sort of money to the govt he says its from our tax money why should we give back :D
