Scientific Verses of Holy Quran.

We all read about it a lot, Alims of today says that whatever has been discovered today had been revealed in holy quran even 1400 years badk.

I have a honest question about that which no one has answered yet.

Holy quran was revealed as the last message to the holy prophet, and I believe that no one except the holy prophet could have understood holy quran better. Sahabis learned meaning of holy quran by none other than the holy prophet.

Now my question is, how come those scientific verses were not understood at that time by the holy prophet and noble sahabis? Had those verses were understood that time than all the discoveries would have been made than and there only. After all Muslims were served all the scientific secrets, which were later discovered by the west mostly, by ALLAH more than 1400 years ago. Than how come muslims waited for kuffar to discover the things and than turned to the pages of holy quran only to tell them that see this has been revealed by ALLAH to the holy prophet more than 1400 years back?

Are those Ulemas, who have deciphered the holy quran again and discovered that all the scientific secrets were revealed 1400 years ago, more knowledgable (Naujobillah) than the holy prophet and noble sahabis to explain meaning in holyq uran in a different way?

Any reasonable reply to that?

I think we need some clarifications and to narrow down the generalizations in your post before we have something concrete to discuss.

It is true that many Alims go about saying such things but much of it is in their ignorance and also to the ignorance of the listener. Many of todays Khatibs and Alims have promoted an illusioned view that Quran is a book of ALL. This is not true in a literal sense, we are meant to take away guidance regarding this life and our salvation from it, we are supposed to take away a high level shariah from it with certain hudood already prescribed for us and lessons and morals. This kind of sermonizing has contributed much to the backwardness of muslims today and they have been left behind in all the fields they exceled in in the past centuries.

With the first premise of your statement not holding entirely true, this next one does not hold water either. What I cannot deny is that as far as the legislations of the Quran and Aqidah, no one can surpass the Prophet SAW or the Sahaba RA in that or those learnt from them. The Quran itself mentions though that not all of its verses are understood, not all of them are black and white. Their understanding of verses associated with scientific phenomena was limited to the knowledge of their time or expressed in a way where it could not be argued.

You need to read the Quran to see the fallacy in your statement. You are keying off of a perception that has been built of by incorrect sermonizing of some Alims or people. Scientific progress does not equate to a verse mentioned in the Quran. The verses in the Quran were precursors to all the research done by muslims because muslims have complete faith in the veracity and accuracy of the Quranic verses and to understand them they set out on a journey of discovery. In other words reverse engineering many secrets of this universe provide us with a better understanding of certain verses in the Quran.

Re: Scientific Verses of Holy Quran.

Peace Raj_ind

USResident has already explained this, and I would like to make it very clear to you by saying:

a) The Qur'an is a Book of Guidance - Yes, RasoolAllah (SAW) and Sahabah (RA) were the best in understanding it. They understood it in the way it was meant to be understood, as guidance and as a Book that illumines the hearts and empowers the beliefs system to a level of conviction in God that is unparalleled by any other scripture or people reading that scripture.

b) For those who wish to do so, they can read the Qur'an and pick out from it seeds that will pave the path to discovery. Muslims were doing this but then they stopped for some reasons that were not due to Islam, but our own shortfalls. Verily, if we study the Qur'an today with as much passion we will again make many more discoveries. However, it must be stressed that this will only be a means to the true goal which is to get guidance and it is not necessary that guidance is achieved by scientific prophecy, there are many other ways as well.

Re: Scientific Verses of Holy Quran.

Good answers above.

Simply speaking,

Quran is not a scientific book nor it is meant to be. It just gives examples of Allah's creation and references.

Hence there was not a need to explain to people the scientific phenomenon.

Saying the other way, if the prophet SAW did not dwell on explaining the scientific verses, then these were really not meant to be.

Idea is to take the guidance and not dwell on specifics of scientific or seemingly scientific statements.

People do this out of their emotions and not really correct thing to do.

There is a lot of information flooded everywhere trying to prove (or disprove) Quran based on its 'scientific' verses.
