Scientific facts mentioned in the Quran

What has been mentioned in the Quran and was then scientifically proved later on?

I’ll start with embryology…the development of the embryo in the womb has been described in quite a bit of detail in the Quran. There was no way anyone could have known this sort of information at that time.

So, does anyone know any more scientific facts mentioned in the Quran?

Re: Scientific facts mentioned in the Quran

The fact that the earth isn't flat nor entirely round - it is shaped more like an ostrich's egg i.e. round but slightly flattened at both poles i.e. ovoid shape.

Re: Scientific facts mentioned in the Quran

Yep, I’ve heard stuff about Universe being mentioned, i.e. Universe expanding in the Quran.

Then global warming too, hang on I’ll lok up this page I was looking at, it had loads of things about this.

Amazing really, as the Quran was 1400 years old! :hayaa:

Re: Scientific facts mentioned in the Quran

Amazing indeed... Another one is that the moon's light is reflected light (from the sun).

Re: Scientific facts mentioned in the Quran

“Indeed We have sent Messengers with clear proofs, and sent down with them the Book and the Balance, that mankind may observe justice; And We sent down (Nazala) iron, in which is (material for) mighty power, as well as many benefits for mankind, that Allah may test who it is that will help, unseen, Him and His Messengers, for Allah is full of strength, exalted in might.” (The Quran, 57:25.)

It is remarkable that the Holy Quran uses the word Nazala for iron, stating that it was sent down to earth. Geologists now agree that the entire energy of our solar system is not sufficient to produce one atom of iron. Additionally, they state that four times as much energy as that of our solar system would be needed to make one atom of iron on the surface of earth. The geologists thus conclude that iron is an extra-terrestrial material that came to earth from some other planet. The word Nazala to the early commentators of the Holy Quran was one the mysteries of the Holy Quran. Recent advancement of knowledge has changed this mystery of the Holy Quran to a fact of science. Who besides Allah, Glory be to Him, could have such absolute knowledge which excels and encompasses all levels of human knowledge?

Re: Scientific facts mentioned in the Quran

***The Qur'an talks about cosmic orbital motion:

"It is not for the sun to overtake the moon, nor doth the night outstrip the day. They float each in an orbit" (Surah Yaseen) at a period of time when the common belief was that earth was stationary.

The Qur'an references the heavens and earth as originally being an integrated mass before Allah split them:

"Have not those who disbelieve known that the heavens and the earth were of one piece, then We parted them" , which has been interpreted by some as being "nothing short of a condensed version of the Big Bang theory".*(Al -Anbiya)

Re: Scientific facts mentioned in the Quran

These are some of the ayats that can leave anyone astonished at the miracle that is the Holy Quran... esp. the way it is described... there are miracles in the language being used as well... for example, the "everything is in orbit" is "kullun fee falakin" - which is written in such a way that the letters read the same even when reversed... K, L, F, I, F, L, K. It's just a simple observation, but one tends to say MashaAllah at each such small observation.

Re: Scientific facts mentioned in the Quran

one of the reason why the arabs become pioneers in astronomy and science is due to the miracles mention in the quran, and not vice versa
