Watching this video, it seems like the message they’re all giving out is that “my scientific mind is too smart to believe in a God…”
Its like saying, if you know a thing or two about science, you should reject all theories of a God. Why so?
But they’re mainly talking about Christianity and yes there are various things in the Bible that the scientific mind cannot comprehend but what about Islam? Are these people merely using science as an excuse for atheism?
religious people try to bend theories and facts around and make it look like their religion is scientific... ignoring the illogical bakvaas and propogating convenient interpretations to show logic behind religion.... all scam...
Would you believe me If I told you that your house was never built and is actually a tree which turned itself into a house? Hmm Would you believe me If I told you that the flour, the tomatoes and the cheese in my kitchen decided to have a party, and things got out of control and the party turned into an orgy and left a Pizza in my kitchen? Yeah? Would you?
Now who is the scammer? Who is the stupid one "Mr. scientist"?
^ can u guys not turn this into a religion-bashing thread and answer the question without getting sarcastic please?
Are religion and science contradictory? Why so? Why can't someone be religious and a good scientist? Why must one reject religion and embrace atheism to be considered a good scientist? These are the questions I'm asking.

That's not true. The ones who contributed the most actually were religious. Galilei, Newton, Sir Francis Bacon and the list goes on.
Well i hate to throw the spanner in the works... but recently thers been evidence much of it authenticated by scientists that can explain many Biblical phenomena....
For example Noah's Flood could well have happened, the Red sea can be parted naturally at a point where an ancient river once ran through the middle of it... the ancient cities of Sodom and Gommorah could ell have been wiped out by a catastrophic firestorm.... The list is endless.
Not always does science contradict Religion.
Also without Religion there would be no modern science... most of sciences greatest theorists were themselves deeply religous.... as pointed out by Zapatista.
Furthermore i would go on to say that at the end of the day belief is all conquering be it deep belief in science or in the Almighty whichever helps you sleep better at night... though you can always opt for middle ground too as that is always present.
True. I don’t really understand this conflict between religion and science because they are two completely different subjects. Science is a completely different discipline that involves the study of nature and religion is simply a way of life, its all about faith.
I think differences arise when certain topics in both science & religion overlap e.g. how the universe was created. There might be scientific flaws in the Bible but the Quran, however, backs up what modern science has to say about the shape of the earth, the rotation of the earth around the sun, the light of the moon being the light from the sun and so on, it even talks about both creation and evolution. There really isn’t anything in Islam that goes against modern science and so I have no reason to reject this religion, right?
Moreover Islam is a very scientific and political religion becuase it is a way of life too not just a religion... which is why some Muslims my self included are so defensive of the fait becuase when someone poke fun or deliberately inflames our core beliefs then not only is that a transgression against the faith but it's against the people who live by it.
In fact few religions have any flaws, the flaws are in the men who interpret the faith... Just like science in that respect... for Gravity has always existed as has the elements of the periodic table but few undertood either principle until they put away thier misconceptions and strived for the truth.
Yes definitely, faith very much depends on the interpretation of the scripture by the reader. I understand the Quran to be in compliance with modern science but someone else's interpretation could be different and so it depends a lot on a person's way of thinking.
Cool! I think I got my answer... At the end of the day, faith is all down to the individual's way of thinking and not his/her profession.
In many ways they complement each other and many ways they contradict.
Many beliefs in science have no reasons not even science can explain those beliefs (theories) and many beliefs in religion cannot be explained by science.
Hence trying to talk about them in one breath is not correct thing to do.
