When I used to go school I followed timetable and set my bag pack light. I sometime skip heavy text books and borrow from my class fellow or the friend sitting to my bench. I knew the attitude of teachers and that helped me plan my bag pack lighter in weight. I kept my habit till University. Now, when I look kids and student of current time I can see load of bag pack carried by innocent kids.

Heavier bags are definitely a cruelty with kids. Its insane. And i blame teachers for that.
One of the solutions thats adopted in west is lockers provided for students.
But wut if a school doesnt afford that? The solution lies with more organization but that must be provided by teachers. Its stupid to expect from kids to be organized on their own and keep the lighter bags when they dont know wut to expect at school next day.
Maharashtra govt should be applauded for this legislation. However i think this matter shouldnt be addressed by the govt rather than socially within society itself.
there was a report on "heavy school bags kids carry in India" and they found out that, on average, a student carries 5 kilos of weight everyday to school upto grade 5 and upto 10 kilos from grade 6 to grade 12. they also warned the parents that their kids will probably have "hunched backs" by the time they finish High School.
Skates be like 2 kg in themselves....was it a board or rollers....
