Personally I don't think it is required for women to cover their entire face, but I know this is a favorite topic of debate amongst many so I will leave it at that.
However, one thing I gotta say is that news stories like this make me question why some people even chose to live in the western world. If you want your 12-yr old daughter to have full face niqaab, that implies it is important for you, in which case why don't you live in a place that agrees with your values and appreciates your actions. I am not saying this family should leave UK because of this, but in a more general sense, people should live where they are comfortable in the value system of the society around them. I am sure there are many places in the world where people appreciate a 12-yr old to wear a full face niqaab, some places may even penalize you if you refuse to do so. So its not like there are no other choices for ppl.
