I agree with the ulemas, in that however you look at it, these body scanners are immoral, and from an islamic POV haram. This not about stopping you’re travels either. The point here is, knowing you’re rights are being violated, you need to protest.
The thing is however, that this is not just a muslim issue, lots of people from all backgrounds aswell as human right groups have protested and voiced thier concerns of violation of privacy, so there is ultimately no sense in chasing after ulemas who voice similiar concerns, merely because you yourself seem to have no sense of self respect or dignity, but prefer swallowing what ever crap your Gov. throws at you. That is not freedom you know, that is mental slavery.
As for the security issue, the body scanners are chosen for the random travellers anyway, not everyone is asked to go through it, so how that is effective in providing security for anyone is beyond me.
Good points!
Like you said, it’s not just us Muslims protesting, everyone who cares just a little about his/her dignity is protesting. Unfortunately, some of us are blind to the fact how the governments are taking away our privacy little by little. I guess time will tell.
Fair enough those scholars think body scanners are haram but do they have any idea how ppl are going to get to other countries for necessity and to do hajj?? By swimming there?? I always thought Islamic rulings like this were weighed up with the rules and regulations of different countries eg. insurance is said to be haram but obviously in the West car insurance is mandatory so it is generally classed as being allowed, in times of necessity so-called haram becomes halal eg. pork is allowed when there is nothing else or we’re starving so I would have thought body scanners, altho controversial, would be ok if we have no other choice..
Rules and regulations? It doesn’t mean every rule and regulation is right. Is it? Everyone has a right to protest especially when it comes to privacy! Come on, think outside of the box for once and stop letting those in power control your lives.
