Schengen Visa

Hi Friends,

Anyone with personal experience to get Schengen Visa from Dubai, would appreciate your advise and tips on procedures and necessary documents required for pakistani nationals.

Also, which embassy should be approached to apply because i have heard that France & Swiss embassy is bit strict for issuing the Visas to Pak nationals.

Thanks!

U are talking about business visa? or visit visa?

it is better to apply through some italian embassy, or german ones..

documents to aapke nature of visit pe depend kerta hai :)

Re: Schengen Visa

Re: Schengen Visa

Thank god I don't need to get it.

Re: Schengen Visa

yea thank god. You are denied entry into Europe right? :hmmm:

Re: Schengen Visa

Why would I be denied entry in to Europe? :S

Re: Schengen Visa

redidentity - Thanks for your quick response,I wanna apply for Tourist Visa...

In my experience German Embassy has the quickest response time .. two weeks

you can get the requirements from here
Deutsches Generalkonsulat Karachi - Visit Visa

The requirements of most other schengen member countries are similar
Travel Insurance for the duration of stay ,
invitation letter from someone in the host country(I am not 100% sure would that also be a requirement for a tourist visa) ,
return ticket itinerary ,
hotel booking for the duration of stay (or if you are staying with someone in germany; their details),
6 months bank statements,
source of funds from wher you will bear your expenses in the schengen member country; for business VISA’s it usually a covering letter from your company, if you are visiting a relative it could be a sponsership letter from them.

If you are submitting any letters on behalf of someone in the schengen member country.., they will require you to fax the letters to the embassy ..,

Italy i think has a visa turn around time of 4 weeks,
I have some friends who get Swiss VISA within 3 business days but then their company has a special relationship with the Swiss Embassy.. , so i would recommend apply through germany.
Also one more thing if you get a VISA from one schengen country but would want to travel to another plan your trip in such a way that your entry & exit should be through that country or else that country would never give you a VISA again.

Hope this helps

Re: Schengen Visa

I think Swiss embassy is quick. I applied at Islamabad last year and got in 10 days. There was no rush...only one family...a couple and myself. A Pakistani checked papers....took short interview and asked to come again on the date given on receipt. One important point...they will issue visa for exact travel dates that you mention on application. If you write one week, it will be one week starting from the date as on your flight reservation, unlike UK visa which allows 6 months even if you mention a week or two on application/reservation. So, plan accurately, well in advance and not in hurry. Swiss embassy is under Schengen agreement now and you can apply via Gerry's/FedEx. It is much more easier.

Re: Schengen Visa

Hi there,

How was your experience to go for schengen visa, could u please share it here.

Re: Schengen Visa

I m gona apply for Swiss Student Visa in August Insha Allah.........but i read at their site that u have to be at the embassy u cant just send ur docs via fedex and they saying it takes 4 6 weeks
is it true?

Re: Schengen Visa

4 to 6 weeks is the standard waiting time for Schenegan visa and they surely ask to you visit embassy as finger prints are an essential requirement these days.

Good Luck.

Re: Schengen Visa

Of course they will ask me and probably ask me some questions regarding my studies why u r going there and blah blah

Re: Schengen Visa

Since I sponsored my mother & brother last year, I can tell you exactly what I had to prepare. I will not bother giving details of docuement for my mum, because it falls under different category. My brother needed this.

1) Letter from Employer confirming employment or from Accountant confirming financial income.
2) Six months bank statements (You should have around 4000 or local equivalent in it).
3) Return Ticket (Confirmed).
4) 30,000 Euro worth of Travel/Medical insurance.

As a sponsor I sent him,

  • Invitation letter (issued by Foreign Police, u cannot just type/sign & send in Schengen)

When you go to Foreign Police for invitation letter, u must take, three months salary slips, letter from employer, ownership or lease agreement of house/flat, and six months bank statement.

If you dont have a person sponsoring you, you must have a confirmed hotel booking.

Visa will only be issued for the days, mentioned in Invitation from foreign police or hotel booking. (Yes I have seen people with visa issued for only 2 days).

Dont even bother applying in

1) Spain
2) Portugal
3) Greece
(list of all poor Schengen countries i.e Poland/Latvia etc).

German's are very tough in granting visa but if you have concrete case with genuine papers etc, they are quicket, but over all wait period is two to three weeks for visit visa.

Business visa requires an invitation from at least Pvt Ltd (GmbH in German) based company & a lot more paper work required from sponsoring company, so mostly people who are going on business trip still prefer to apply for visit visa.

Good luck.

Re: Schengen Visa

The rule is, that the Embassy of the country you intend to visit is the one you should handle your visa application. If you are planning on visiting multiple Schengen countries then it should be "your final destination within Schengen". And if that can't be determined that you can apply for a visa at any Schengen embassy that is part of your itinerary within Schengen.

But that rule is not very strictly enforced. So if you apply for a German visa and only travel to Switzerland for example, nobody should stop you from doing that.

Re: Schengen Visa
