Hello there, I have found this forum really helping so I decided to post my problem here.. ok some of you may complain this as a spam thread… notice one thing here that i am discussing about acne ‘scars’ not plain acne…
Im a 18 year old boy.. for 4 years I have been suffering from acne on my face and shoulders.. after using proper face wash, drinking lots water and ofcourse contacting a dermatologist.. I have successfully controled my acne.. I do not have any pimples on my face now.. but there is a one major problem… as the acne went.. they left the scars behind.. scars are like tiny red irremovable spots and some (LAL DHABBAY) on my cheeks…
They really hurt me very much emotionally.. my face seems like wounded…
So, Kindly hook me up with some good solutions so I can remove these scars which have been hunting me for 2 years now..
It’s good that your acne has cleared up, really, that’s the worse part over. As for the scars, time is the best healer and it does take quite a long time, especially if the scars are bad. It took years for mine to fade away.
For your face, I would recommend using an spf moisturiser as that seems to help the scars fade quicker… it’s an essential thing anyway.
If you want a quicker solution more extreme measures are required; chemical peels (you can have this on your face and your shoulders) or laser treatments.
I would contact your dermatologist about procedures like these.
What are these ‘lal dhabbay’? If you have any ‘pitting’ or ‘ice pick’ scars, unfortunately they can’t really be fixed. There are some temporary procedures for them. The one permanent one doesn’t always work.
Ozair hun.. you know that VIT C and D are excellent for your scarred skin- natural sunlight is a healthy way of healing ur scars- the suns rays contain the vits and if u were to sunbathe out in the sun , during time the scars get lighter- the more ......also wear cotton as opposed to synthetic/viscose stuff and use unperfumed body products- exfoliate but be very gentle as you dont want to aggravate ur skin.. inshallah they will fade with time.. Good luck hun xx
I forgot to mention that I also bought the 'tea tree oil' from the Body Shop in Lahore... I used it for one month... but i didnt work :(...
anyways.. I guess that I have to wait... :)
Tea tree oil is great for active spots as it's antibacterial. However, it won't do much for the scars left behind, that's just pigmented skin. But they will go away eventually!
If you find that the oil is too strong, you can try Tea Tree toner from Lush. I've been using it for maybe more than a month now and I like it. Fewer breakouts.
I went to the derm once and she said that people confuse spots and scars. Spots (whether red or dark) are basically daagh/marks. Scars, on the other hand, are small holes or pits in the skin that can result from acne.........especially if your picking your pimples. The spots can fade over time, but scars will require professional treatment. Perhaps laser (of various wavelengths)....resurfacing of skin.........(I don't know much about the exact names of the treatments)....can be more helpful.
I've also found that just changing your diet can help. Alhumdolillah, my skin has cleared up and I think it's partly to do with me eating much healthier. I eat salad of spinach, kidney beans, etc for lunch each day. Drinking more water, eating more fruit. I'm also trying to eat more yogurt, which contains enzymes that can zap away acne causing bacteria. Apart from trying out various topical remedies, make sure that your basics (healthy diet, sufficient sleep, reduced stress, exercise) are in place.
Take Vitamin C 1000 mg everyday after some meal, its good for skin and produces collagen. Other than that i read in this forum about using apple cider vinegar as a toner.. i've used it too and it really works in lightning red marks. What i also use is disprin mask at night, it had reduced my red marks greatly. Thats all i can think of treating pigmneted scars.
But if your scars are indented, pitted etc then you would need laser treatment done.
Hang in there, just dont loose hope.. i know what you are going through. :)
^Hey RV, Body Shop TToil is diluted, I think it's 16% TTOil. If you have an angry spot (as in active, filled with pus etc) it's great to dab a little of it on there!
Tea Tree Toner is very, very weak. It's just a few drops in a bottle of water. I do love it and use it everyday before moisturiser though.
In my interpretation spots are active pimples (but much bigger than a pimple), then scarring is of 2 types - one is pigmentation (daagh) which is temporary and the other is the pitting which is permanent (laser doesn't help with this, nor does microdermabrasion. temporary solution is a filler like restylane and permanent is a cosmetic technique called punch excision).
Ozair's acne has cleared up (no more breakouts, pimples etc), now his problem is with 'spots' of pigmented skin left. For some people these take ages to fade. I would say it was about 3 years after I stopped getting active acne for my skin to look completely clear. No one would guess now how bad it looked 6 years ago.

Yup, high dose VitC will definitely help. Although be careful, if you lack calcium in your diet it might give you stomach cramps.
You can also make a mask out of vitC powder and that is supposed to be good for helping the skin heal. The only problem is finding VitC powder that will actually work.
I used to use apple cider vinegar and it does calm the skin down and reduce the redness. It also balances the PH of the skin. The only thing with ACV is that it can sting your skin and it has a pretty strong odor to it.....which is why I like the tea tree toner now. You can try diluting the ACV with water, so that it doesn't sting as much.
Vitamin C, I vaguely remember reading, helps to produce collagen which plumps/firms up your skin.....making scars/pits less visible. As Lady Gaga suggested, you can take vitamins. And you can even increase your intake of fruits. I remember reading about how a girl was able to clear her skin and make her scars less visible by drinking water with lemon juice. That's something you can consider doing. Plus, it's a way to keep hydrated.
I've tried the aspirin mask....it contains salcylic acid, which mildly exfoliates the skin and reduces inflammation. Some people use 4-5 pills, which are dissolved into a paste and applied to the skin. Do be careful though because it is medication. If you're allergic to aspirin/disprin, don't use it. Consult a dermatologist to be on the safe side and to learn about the various options you have to treat your skin.

Hmm, I might try the tea tree oil from Body Shop in the near future. Body Shop is closer to me than Lush. I do remember trying it a long time ago in my teens and it irritated my skin. Maybe it was too strong then. I'll check it out again when I swing by at the mall next time.

If restalyne is temporary, how long does it last?
TTOil is too strong for some people (it definitely smells strong). If it irritates you, maybe try diluting it down by 50% then applying (You can also make your own toner in this way if you run out). I still get the odd pimple before my time of the month and TTOil and Witch Hazel are my two top products.
Fillers like restalyne last between 4-8 months. If the ice-picks/pitting are really bad, it might be worth considering for ones wedding etc.
go for a skin bleacher like hydroquinone 4% for spot treatment. its really effective. using HQ with retin A increases the effectiveness of the treatment. retin A exfoliates n ur skin keeps renewing. also regular use of rose hip seed oil is also good for scars n spots as it contains vit A. all other home remedies just take ages n tons of patience.
hey uzair i am living with those red scars aka dhabbay too :D so dont let them bother you and they will fade away :) everybody knows here what mess i used to create when i got those scars and pimples;P
Bio-Oil - Im not too sure if yuo can use to it for acne scars specific but people use it for general scars..But its supposed to be good... Its in a orange & white packaging...
Good luck
i used bio oil for my daughter's scars(left by eczema) and by scratching. the conclusion: if it doesn't work for baby scars wat can it do for adult acne scars. i found it disappointing. comparatively rose hip seed oil worked better and healed her fast.
