scar-prone skin

are there any natural products you can use to get rid of scarring? You know when u’ve fallen and scraped ur knees and it leaves horrible scarring.. well mines about 10 times worst.. what can u use to get rid of the marks (to an extent)?

ive heard aloevera is really good.. is there anything else?

my mum recommends zam zam and reciting Bismillah..

Are you talking about keloid prone scars? Because those usually need laser treatment, but I suppose it would depend on the severity of the scar.

Those scar reduction plasters (I think they're by Elastoplast) are said to be excellent. You wear them continously over the scar for around 6 weeks, and they even work on old scars.

You can also get a product called Silica gel from health food stores, which you apply to the scar as much as possible - but I think that silica gel is one of the main 'ingredients' in the scar reduction plasters anyway.

Oops, just realised that you were after more natural remedies.

Vitamin E oil massaged daily in 'fresh' scars helps keep the skin soft and supple thus preventing scar tissue forming.

haha actually yeah keloid scar is one thing.. i have that but i think it requires more than laser treatment.. i had radiation and injections for that.. (i forgot the name of the injections though!)

keloid scars are the worst to cure.. they take years!

im more interested in how to get rid of scars that are caused my skin grafts.. i know the skin colour doesnt quite go back to normal once the skin is removed, but what if it goes slightly bumpish?

yeah, ive used vitamin E on it too.. i guess i should just be more regular with it

ive tried the silica gel.. its so bulky though.. no? it would just slip out when i moved.. i'll try the elastoplast

I think that's partly why people prefer the plasters instead of the gel......also wouldn't it just rub off on your clothing too? And I think the plasters are waterproof so they stay on in the shower too which is more convenient.

I almost wish I had a scar now just so I can try the plasters out.

haha no dont ever wish that! trust me.. im my doctors worst patient.. everytime he sees me he makes a funny face like

the gel isnt gooey.. its in a hard format.. looks more like an eraser sorta thing. I think u can get it in cream format too, but its not availble here in OZ.. plus the process is soooo slow

Maderma, its expensive but does the job

What kind of scars are they? There are more than 100 types of skin conditions. And there cannot be one cure for all the conditions. You need to find out exactly what is your skin problem. Dont keep trying different creams/cosmatics cz people told you it's good. You would only end up torturing your skin and making the condition worse.
