scanners

what is a good scanner for home use. by home use i mean scanning pictures and sending them to friends/relatives on e-mail.

i c all sorts of technical specs. such as dpi and stuff.

One more thing. what does it mean if the item has been refurbished to brand new condition???

If u want a good scanner for home go for 2400 dpi.
DPI is dots per inch...the more the better.

Refurbished things r usually things that had problems but are fixed. They usually dont come with a warranty and usually have bad spare parts.

I recommend u go with original when u buy a scanner.

Techinacally, 600 x 600 is the max you can reach with the actual scanner and the rest is just software and various scanning techiniques but the higher is the better. If you are going to be e-mailing pictures and stuff then you shouldn't scan anything higher than 150 as then the picture size gets bigger, visually as well at size-wise. Any other things then just ask...

For home use, Canon and hp has some good models. I wouldn't spend more than US $140 for a scanner for home use. You can get pretty good results from those.

Also check out the deals. I recently saw an ad in the paper for a brand new scanner for $49, with pretty decent specs.
