OK, I’m hooked. After a very long time, I’m actually seeing a TV show and loving it.

So what does it have to do with this forum? Mods, before you move my thread, ahan STOP right there, please read on: The last episode I saw brought to light the issue that is dear to all of us: PRIVACY.

Now with public knowledge of what’s happening, I’m not worried, just curious. So is it true that I should cover my laptop camera with a sticky note when not using it otherwise somebody maybe looking at me while I browse? Is it true that Google Chrome has a bug that allows certain websites to eavesdrop on us? What are some suggestions for regular folks like me who don’t program or run encryption software on our “masoom” home gadgets?

PS It depends if you are hot and changing in front of your camera, but I spooked my sister enough for her to cover her cam! :smiley:

PS 2 I heard it about google chrome but perhaps it was after the episode in Scandal? There was a setting in firefox and even chrome? where you could easily see any passwords that you store in the browsers.

I try to not take my laptop to a shop to get serviced and constantly run anti-spyware (which might or might not help).

Chrome is a bit wired with privacy. On chrome, tap on settings and click on show advanced settings and choose passwords manager.

Or paste this in chrome.
chrome://settings/passwords
this will show all the passwords.

Open this link
chrome://extensions/
and uninstall all the add ons that you don't remember installing.

All I can say is run ad, malware and track blocker and stay away from suspicious websites.

In addition try not to use IE. It has more holes than any of the browsers out there.

Always unplug the desktop cam and disable laptop can when not using.

Haven't you tried 'OK Google' feature yet? Yes your gadgets are no more dumb. They listen and see.

Disabling laptop cams may not disable. just put on a sticky on the camera.

I've been putting a sticky note over it too now. Had a piece of duct tape over it but that makes my puter look so evil and ugly.
