So I’ve posted my resume on Monster.com and yesterday someoen from this company emailed me. It sounded wayyyyyy too good to be true, work from home, they really try to get to know their workers, and the pay! All i can say, the amt they promised made me very skeptical. :hinna: I asked a friend for advice and he said to just delete the email.. So is this a scam or what?? ![]()
Re: Scams?
I have my resume in monsters.ca as well. never got such email from anyone :)
Re: Scams?
One of the great many tips that professionals will give you is that whenever a company contacts you where you have not explicitly applied for the job, always always research the nature of work, background and mode of business for that company first.
Re: Scams?
The tip makes sense.. they never provided any link or even a fone number. I replied to them and they said they dont give out their # to non-employees, because of “fone line congestion” and to do all correspondence via email
I tried googling them and nothing came up.. But the # 1 thing that put me off was the pay.. theres no freakin way you can make $600 so “easily” :hinna:
Re: Scams?
Yeah... :(
Re: Scams?
Look, as a friend, I’ll give you some of my best advice:
If something sounds waaay too good to be true
Bring a gun with you ![]()
Re: Scams?
$600 dollars is equivalent to how many pounds?
and is this daily pay? or weekly?
Re: Scams?
They said anywhere from 600 to 1200 (1200 to 2400 pounds i think).. And yes it was weekly..
Btw, are there really (legal) jobs/careers that pay 600 a week ?? ![]()
Re: Scams?
well 600 a week is about $28800 in an year. I’m sure there are people who make 30,50 k in an year
or even 100-120 K ![]()
Re: Scams?
Ohhh
Lolz i wasn’t lookin at the big picture ![]()
But still.. 600 a week for just sitting at ur computer 3 hrs a day, sounds way too easy ![]()
Re: Scams?
Oh yeah on Monster and Workopolis both, I've got emails from the same companies who want you to be sales reps and work on commission. They arent really scams but they send those to everyone who applies basically.
Re: Scams?
Oh dont even get me started ![]()
This one compay contacted me saying they will hire me as a web developer for 60k
I think their app fee was $92 non-refundable…lol I almost fell for it until i googled it and turned out other people had received the email too.
Re: Scams?
Sara, I have a feeling you will be very rich one day.
Anwaar Q... depends. Some professionals have such highly marketable skills in their resumes that they are routinely approached by headhunters/reputed companies all the time, just based on keyword searches performed on jobs database like Monster. This is perfectly normal, and doesn't automatically mean scam.
Re: Scams?
If you would read my ALL responses, you will see why I said it was SCAM because it is a SCAM :)
Re: Scams?
I am not talking about this case, but on your general "tip".
Re: Scams?
Yes. OK.. But if company refuses to give you their general information and only mode of communication left is email, what do you think about that company. I know at first hand what you are saying about being approached by headhunters/companies on timely basis but that does not mean that you won't be a victim of SCAM?
Re: Scams?
And what makes you say that? And do you mean by marriage or by my own hard work ![]()
What you’re saying does make sense (what both of you said :p) but I"m just wary about this company.. its based in lativa, though I dn’t think that alone makes it a scam, but everthing put together.. I’m still not 100 percent sure though
Re: Scams?
