ISLAMABAD: A constitutional petition was filed on Tuesday in the Supreme Court, seeking abolition of the political wing of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) by declaring it in violation of the fundamental rights enshrined in the Constitution.
Habibul Wahabul Khairi Advocate, Chairman Al-Jihad Trust, has filed the petition under Article 184(3) of the Constitution, making the federation through the defence secretary, prime minister, president, being supreme commander of the armed forces, army chief, ISI chief, central bank through its governor, former army chief Mirza Aslam Beg, former ISI chief Asad Durrani and Gen (retd) Hameed Gul as respondents.
The petitioner requested the court to order that the inquiry report about distribution of money among politicians by the ISI through Mehran Bank be made public. He prayed that the results of 2008 general elections be suspended and declared non-transparent, being manipulated by the ISI’s political wing and all those who won these elections and became parliamentarians be declared disqualified.
The court has been requested to restrain the government from distributing money among parliamentarians on the name of development funds, as parliamentarians are elected for making legislation, whereas local government institutions are established for development projects.
Khairi requested that all those politicians who got money from the ISI for promnting the Islami Jamhoori Ittehad (IJI) be declared disqualified for public offices and the money taken by them be retrieved with interest.
He further prayed the court to direct amendments in the Army Act to improve the standard of the armed forces. The petitioner requested the court to determine the responsibilities of supreme commander of armed forces, besides requesting to interpret the articles of the constitution related to the armed forces, so that the armed forces may uphold the supremacy of the constitution.
Re: SC moved for abolition of ISI’s political wing
Instead of supreme court, this should have been decided in parliament. SC should take up more important issues. CJ is bent on becoming a political CJ rather than CJ of Supreme Court of Pakistan, wasting government money.

^ Yes if Parliament was that able to discuss and resolve such manners in a decent manner. BTW, what do you think are the important issues that are being ignore by CJ /SC?
