ISLAMABAD: A constitutional petition was filed on Wednesday in the Supreme Court, challenging drone attacks in the tribal belt of the country and praying for directing the federal government to submit a report before the court as to who was responsible for causing the “murders” of citizens.
The court was also prayed to direct the federal government to get an FIR registered against US President Barack Obama and those responsible for the murder of “innocent” people in drone attacks. The petition was filed by M Tariq Asad advocate, Chairman of the National Council of Human Rights, under Article 184(3) of the Constitution, making the federal government through its secretary, Ministry of Interior, as respondent.
He prayed to the court to direct the federal government to register murder and genocide cases against US President Barack Obama for ordering drone attacks inside the Pakistani territory. The petitioner also prayed to the court to direct the government to lodge complaint with the United Nations against the US aggression.
It was prayed that the respondents be directed to file complaint against the United States of America before the International Court of Justice or other judicial organs of the United Nations to take action in accordance with international law.
Very good. I hope it bears fruit and those who made “deals” under the table to allow drone attacks which have murdered countless innocent civilians are dragged before the court of law and prosecuted in accordance with the law of the land.
The govt. of every independent and sovereign country has the responsibility to protects its people and land from attacks. The govt. of Pakistan failed to stop US drone attacks on Pakistan. Thousands of innocent people have been killed in these attacks.
The patriotic citizen of Pakistan should raised their voice against killing of innocent people in the US drone attacks.
Its better for supreme courts own sake and for sake of people of Pakistan not to put its foot in every issue. Theres a quality that can go a long way in saving one from trouble, which is , knowing one's limitations. Supreme court is doing an excellent job at present in restructuring judiciary and making it cleaner and more efficient. It will be a shame if this work is hampered by picking up on every issue.
Someone finally stands up and takes notice. Almost every week U.S. is doing a drone attack while our pitho leaders are sitting and ignoring. If you can't protect your people then don't call yourself a sovereign nation. Why is Nawaz Sharif all of a sudden so quiet?
well lets abolish the Parliment/Senate/GHQ/PM/President/Civil-Service/Security Services.. we have supreme court.. and a judge. yeh my ass !
What the heck is the problem of SC .. its none of their business, or probably they don’t know their limitations yet… …
**I think SC didn’t learn the lesson yet, few hours ago: **
Zardari Issued the President Ordinance and repelling the SC yesterday verdict on oil prices, good move !

pak army and the musharraf gov has seriously got away from this blame lightly, with the ultra nationalists lamenting zardaris ppp. the zardari government is no less sold out then the musharraf government was or as the pak army is.
if we look back a few months at the pathetic attempts by the army, including ispr and kayani himself, to 'warn america about drone attacks' as if they have no knowledge of it. we should have known when the american ignored these noises but when pressure in washington mounted and it was finally revealled that these drones actually fly from pakistan then the pak army should have been made to publically take the egg off its face.
pak army is treating ordinary pakistanis like they are stupid, extremist vermin who do not need to be told the truth.
let’s be fair…it is not constitutional for the CJ to meddle into the affairs of other “PILLARS” of the government….be it a popular decision…this is exactly what Army says when it takes over….ooo the politicians have become unpopular and were making bad decisions…let the system work CJ ....
hahahah coming back with your own multinick to support your own vivid theories? constitutional hahahahaha
i) The highest court has EVERY right to meddle in the affairs of the Govt, if they deem the carbon tax as a hoax, so be it. Do you know the meaning of checks and balances?
ii) So the Supreme Court doing its job for you suddenly becomes unconstitutional, whereas an incompetent military leader defying the ENTIRE constitution, holding it in abeyance and illegally imposing his rule is acceptable and worthy of brown nosing.
iii) Pillars of the Govt, yeah besharmoon ki tarha apni sovierngnty give up kar key gher mulqi drones sey apni marwana, very strong pillar indeed.
