Why does it has to come to this? Why court has to say that if schedule is not submitted by Govt by 7:45pm today, they will start proceeding at 8pm and MAY issue contempt of court notice to Govt? If there were some legal/management issues in giving the schedule, how come those issues disappear after the contempt of court notice?
Why “democratically” elected governments are ignoring their constitutional responsibilities? perhaps they fear that it will bring up new breed of politicians and they might lose hold onto party? or its the matter of controlling $$$ from top to lowest level?
Local bodies are the basic building blocks of democracy and local body representatives try to solve day-to-day issues of constituency. Personally, I still think Musharraf’s Nazim’s system was the best system for Pakistan but if you have trashed it and dont like it for whatever reason (i think because they want to control all funds and not give it to Nazims), just implement an alternative system and go ahead with the elections.
