Does any 1 know wat it is called in frangion ki zaban/english and where can i find them in NYC?
my mum use to make it with aalooz, they r the flat/broad kindda beans. I tried to search it in the indian stores @ jackson heights, their were sum beans similar to it but i doubt they were the ones I use to eat in khi coz those ones were use to b smooth but these ones are kindda rough frm the outside. there were also sum on the frozen section called fava beans. Are these the ones?

p.s. I am not sure if lama beans are same as saym ke phalaiyan...

there's also such a thing as flat beans... maybe thats what ur talking about? oh, how about sugar snapp peas? and theres one more but im forgetting the name right now..

Ira, the ones u posted are the ones which I mostly find in the desi stores but I highly doubt it’s the beans I am talking abt. The ones I used 2 eat used to hv smooth skin n the color was mostly the outer skin of peas, n it smells different also, I know I use to cut them

they are called snow peas or Mangetout Peas (if they are the ones in the pic above)
If you cant get them in desi stores try Chinese ones they would most likely have them. Most big shops should have them as i get those ready cut stir-fry veg mix boxes and they are in them.

snow peas is the closest in taste. snap peas are a even milder tasting.
