Say, you have 3 weeks to a ...

BIG FAMILY EVENT!

It could be your engagement/nikkah/sibling’s wedding/parents anniversary anything. Your skin has blemishes here & there, has open pores, is just not clear & fresh. Every one who normally meets you advises you on how to improve the skin. So you basically want a drastic change in the look & feel.

What regime will you follow in these 3 weeks to fix everything that is going wrong on your skin & that you end up looking a glowing beauty in the end?

Re: Say, you have 3 weeks to a ...

I would cry first of all, what kinda ppl just advise people on their skin. That's got to be stressful and stress causes acne so wth.

To reduce pores I'd start using a gentle cleanser and toner at night, a good fade cream to help and I would get a microdermabrasion treatment or a really good facial that will suck out everything in your pores and make everything all better. Btw i've seen my friends get married and when it was closer to their wedding they started microdermabrasion and their pores were gone, their skin was more vibrant and youthful looking and after facials somehow your skin glows and is tighter. Go talk to a dermatologist or a highly recommended Esthetician.

Re: Say, you have 3 weeks to a ...

I would go get a peel professionally. Although one can easily do a milder one at home but since I would be looking for drastic changes, I would get a professional one done.

Re: Say, you have 3 weeks to a ...

I would drastically improve my diet.....go heavy on the water consumption, fresh veggies and also follow the above given advice.....

Re: Say, you have 3 weeks to a ...

flawless skin can be achieved by flawless makeup. you can also get a really good facial (utrasound) 7-10 days before the event.

If you want a natural radiant glow - I would up my cardio and re-do my diet with lots of water, fresh fruits with Vitamin C, cut processed sugar, cut salt.

Re: Say, you have 3 weeks to a ...

LOL! My thought's exactly

I have the same problem, I break out very frequently and I have tons of blemishes. Here's what I suggest:

  1. You improve your diet in those 3 weeks, eat lots of fruit that contains vitamin C (something I never do)

  2. Work out, sweat, release those toxins! that'll make your skin glow for a fact. Just two days of running on the treadmill and my skin looks healthier.

  3. Apply a mixture of yogurt, lemon, and besan. Leave it on for 30 mins until it dries, then wash it off. Do this 3-4 times a week, it's basically a scrub and after you wash it off, even the first time you do it, your skin feels super smooth and somehow just appears clearer.

Try these tips, i'm sure you'll see a diff!

Re: Say, you have 3 weeks to a ...

^ All the replies above and then to add in:

-Have loads of green tea, water based drinks. (Without sugar and cut your tea/coffee intake completely except for herbal one's)
-Greens (Eating locally grown one's) and soups.
-Walks in the park to keep the stress down.
-Home masks. I would stay away for going to professional salons unless my skin is accustomed to it or trying out new products if I have 3 weeks. It may cause a breakout. Experimenting is better if you have enough time, however if you are use to facials, then peels/Microderma are best

-For dull skin/acne/oily, applying Onion mask (Just blend onions, leave it for 30 min so it doesn't sting your eyes, and apply). Makes you glow in the dark. That's how good it is:-)). I apply it once a week and whenever I am going out before shower.

For general care: What marwah said and sandalwood masks and exfoliate well (I use the Clarisonic and it works great for me but you could just use home made one's)

Re: Say, you have 3 weeks to a ...

And one more thing.....

I would do all of these things to feel good about myself, NOT because of someone else's opinion. Noone has the right to criticize my face. :)

Re: Say, you have 3 weeks to a ...

Wow never heard that one before! I would think it makes your face smell like onions afterwards...does it?

Re: Say, you have 3 weeks to a ...

I would do the following:

Up the water intake

Immerse your face in ice cold water for 30 secs at a time for a total of 5-10 minutes - daily. This helps shrink pores and pimples. There's no chemicals involved so you won't react to anything and you're not taking any chances so close to a big day.

Use a toner like glytone's salycilic acid one everyday...its only 2% so its not that strong.

Scrub your face with powdered almonds daily.

Get a really good facial...and get it soon so your face has time to relax.

Re: Say, you have 3 weeks to a ...

I can understand that it's hard to implement certain habits regularly....but I don't really like the idea of a temporary practice.

If I were in that situation........I would just go with the routine that I usually follow. I drink my green smoothies...which helps with my skin. I take my vitamins...which I usually do. I clearn my skin with the Clarisonic and use the products recommended by my derm. I regularly get microderm/peels done....and with a wedding...I might squeeze that in a few days before. That would be it. The thing I would really need to put more effort in would be to drink plenty of water and be well-rested to avoid dark circles, etc. I've stuggled with toxic acne for a really long time...and it took ages to find a system that helps keep it at bay and this seems to be working, Alhudmolillah.

Re: Say, you have 3 weeks to a ...

A mexican friend recommeded it after I complimented on how glowy her skin looked. (She just puts in straight up Onion juice)

It works great if you have oily/acne skin due to its anti-bacterial properites. Not sure how the glow part fits in.

Yes, it smells and so I always put it before a shower (Esp when I have to wash my hair) because sometimes, it gets to my hairline. IDK, I don't care for the smell part. It goes away after you shower/ cleanse face and put on moisturizer/perfume. It works best if you put it directly after blending and can tolerate the sting in your eyes and face.

All recipes I saw online called for oatmeal with it but because I like to keep my mask for longer (oatmeal dries faster), I stick with just onion. Maybe if you add something with it, the smell may reduce.

Re: Say, you have 3 weeks to a ...

Basically, this situation is with a friend of mine who has her nikkah in approximately 3 weeks. Her skin is oily in T-zone, has acne scars here & there & some discolouration. She has had Facials/Polishers previously and they do give a clean look but these results are not long term & the skin ends up in that dull zone again.

Microdermabrasion

Those who suggested Microdermabrasion. Here in Pakistan, this treatment is quite invisible honestly but of course any of us can give it a try at home. I am aware that the following products are available here:

  1. Olay Regenerist Microdermabrasion & peel system
  2. Neutrogena Advanced Solutions at Home Microdermabrasion system

Those who have got it previously, does it literally take the skin off or it just takes the dead skin off as is with scrubs without the realization? How safe would it be?

*Onion *
So basically you take an onion, blend it in blender, separate its juice & apply that juice? Wouldn't it sting really really bad?

Fruit/Vegges/Water/Cardio
That's what i suggested to her as well. The safest bet is to go this way but then again this wouldn't bring drastic results to a blemished & unclear skin.

Re: Say, you have 3 weeks to a ...

This is no time for an experiment.

Honestly speaking Daffy, please tell her not to pay attention to people who pick on her face or looks. A bride ALWAYS glows on her big day. What she needs to do right now is focus on what she CAN do. After her Nikah, if she wants to work on her skin in the long term to prepare for her big day...that is more than doable.

Re: Say, you have 3 weeks to a ...

Yeah I agree with you as well. Its not that bad either in my view .. just a few blemishes here & there, who doesn't have them? Those would be covered by make-up, anyway.

She is conscious now because she will be meeting the guy on & off after the nikkah & she says I want to have a clear looking skin not that which has scars every other place.

Re: Say, you have 3 weeks to a ...

I've read the onion juice promotes hair growth...and a study conducted by dermatologists showed that it was effective. I tried it for a couple of weeks...........and OH MAN.....does that onion smell linger on and around you even after shampooing.

Breath mints, dodorant, fragrances only mask the odor. The only thing that will truly get the smell out.....is time. Onion contains suplphur compounds that our body tries to get rid of through the pores of our skin...and through our breath. That's why onion will linger on you.

Be careful now. If you're going to put onion on your face (I think it takes more guts to put it on your face than in your hair)......do it well in advance before the big day.

Re: Say, you have 3 weeks to a ...

^Correct, it's good for hair and I haven't tried it (May smell more). Otherwise, on face, I have had no problem with smell after I shampoo and moisturize. (Only for the time it's on my face and the benefits far exceed the small intolerence I have to deal with:-). 3 weeks should be enough time to figure out if the mask is good or not. And if the smell does bother you, don't apply it at all (A small drop of any essential oil, like sandalwood should help too)
