CBS, VH1, MTV, Nickeloden, Spike, Comedy Central, BET, UPN, and many more will be leaving your dish guide very soon.
Viacom, the company that owns all these channels have demanded Dishnetwork to pay them way more money than whats realistic, and to carry all their useless channels (supposedly there is more channels that Viacom is ready to put out).
Dishnetwork is refusing to budge on their stand, as they feel they are being pushed over just because Viacom has a monopoly of channels.
Viacom is displaying a warning to Dish customers that they are about to lose some channels. But, Charlie is responding by displaying a black bar over the warning.
You may have noticed issues like this occur with your local cable company, but having it happen to a satellite company is shocking.
The Deadline for the agreement is Monday midnight.
I guess, what is the point of trying, Murdoch will soon take over the entire world.
Go Charlie! (I’m cheering for the bad guy for once!)
My vote is for Charlie too! He may be funny looking and have his yes-men on charlie-talk answer all the difficult questions, but hes the brains behind Dishnetworks quality prorgramming!!
The only way to get these channels is on satelitte in Canada.
I cannot live w/o MTV and VH1. I have to watch The Fabolous Life and I can't wait a season behind for The Osbournes :(
Viacom will come crawling back, and charlie is shrewd enough a businessman to know that. This is just a swipe tactic viacom is employing, since the FCC is already cracking down on their radio stations. They are trying to get some extra revenue stream going, until the government cools down. They will not only keep offering these channels to echostar, but now might even have to do it for even less.
Good call on dishnetwork’s part to not budge to viacom :k:
Last night CBS and MTV were off, but COmedy Central and Nick were back. I heard this morning, that Viacom and Dish agreed on a deal and the whole thing is back on.
Ya echostar sold out out to viacom, who got all their conditions met, despite dish network calling this a negiotiation. So congrats to all of us subscribers, who will be having a rate increase in the bill. I was going to support dish through this for having some balls to stick up to monopolistc corporate behemoth viacom, but im gonna cancel my subscription now since they are just another impersonal corporation who sells out.
how so? i watched all the europrean soccer games with cable on it - you don't have to pay for that once you have the cable.
dishnetwork doesn't telecast WWE - OR doesn't it?
[/QUOTE]
It does, it has all the PPVs, even though encore shows on PPV every week like 'Monday Night wars', tributes etc. Dishnetwork already solved this dispute and will continue to show all the channels. Cable is nothing compared to Dish, provided you have all the sateliltes hooked up.
