Re: saving on utility bills

We have one simple rule for water usage in the home : dont keep the tap open unnecessarily when doing the dishes or brushing teeth for example ... if you feel like having a longer shower during summers, fill some water up in the tub instead and have a bath ... Similarly I do laundry once a week , ensuring none of the taps are dripping ...

Electricity - Keeping chargers off after use , Switching TV off every night, I cook every alternate day to save on energy , I try to iron clothes faster , not only does the task get done quicker but also saves on electricity ...

Gas - in our home its just the boiler thats on Gas .. we try not to turn on the heating all the time ... Lowering the heat by a few points also helps..

Re: saving on utility bills

Hey, good point. Never thought of that.

Re: saving on utility bills

Yeah and I have got another tip as well .. when i got newly married I saw hubby putting a shirt on top of another and then ironing it … and I asked him what that was … he said aik ko iron karo dossra shirt khudi ho jati hai :omg:

I always saw my mum , use bedsheets as the base , she would iron the clothes on top of the bedsheets and that automatically ironed the bedsheets…

Re: saving on utility bills

Re: saving on utility bills

Blueangle, Dont try the shirt on top of shirt trick .. Its only good for lazy bachelors :cb:

But the bedsheet trick defo works well … I dont iron my bedsheets separately now … I just layer it into four and spread it as the base and iron all the clothes on top … works well for me …

Re: saving on utility bills

turn on AC 24*7 and set temperature at 78 F . keep checking your windows and door and apply filling if you find any leakage. keep changing your air filter every three month. it will really help to reduce electricity bill.

if you have electric stove, then replace it with gas.

it is always a good idea to run sprinkler in night. will help to reduce evaporation and plant will grow in small amount of water.

Experts do not want you to turn on sprinklers in the night because that promote fungal diseases for your plants and grass.
