MORE CHEERS FOR VITAMIN ‘C’
If you want a possible new antidote for high blood pressure, try vitamin ‘C’.There’s growing evidence that high blood pressure may be partly due to “Vitamin C”, Insis British Dr. Christopher.J.Bulpitt at the Hammer smith Hospital in London.
Writing recently in a medical journal, he cited these observations that led him to the conclusions:-
- Death from stroke, associated with high blood pressure, is highest in regions where people have lowest intake of vitamin C.
- Blood pressure is lower in individuals who consume more vitamin C.
*Blood pressure goes up in winter as consumption of vitamin-C-rich fruits and vegetables goes down. - Older people are more likely to have both high blood pressure and vitamin C deficiencies.
*Switching to a vegetarian diet, high in vitamin C, causes blood pressure to fall.
Vitamin C has many known actions that could help control blood pressure.
