Save my back..

Re: Save my back..

Gina, I've heard that often times back pain can be alleviated by simply changing your mattress and pillow. There are some good quality mattresses (Sleep Number, Serta, etc) that are designed to prevent backaches because they adjust to your body. And I also think there are special cushions that you can place on your chair to help you with this.

Re: Save my back..

sleepy kro.

when ARE you sleeping?? with those work hours it seems like very little. you need proper sleep!

oh yes, try those cura heat back pain patches.

Sharp, painful and constantly there! An aunty asked me to sleep on the floor on a very thin mattress I even did that.. i'm giving it one more day to behave.

Re: Save my back..

yeah do that. Lie on your back. Put a pillow under your calves too.
If you can do little stretching with out feeling pain that could be helpful.

When you lie down hold your knew against you tummy...whole holding your shinbone.
So one leg totally bent and pressed against stomach...hold for 20 sec.
Do it with other leg too.

Also do that... remember no more then 20 sec each side. may be twice or 3times a day

Re: Save my back..

Gina, go to the doc! make sure that you are able to describe your pain in detail like if it's muscle or joint pain and if it's chronic vs. acute.

Saw a doc today it's Lumbar Muscle Strain.. :( and it's awful still..

Awwww

Re: Save my back..

Remember protein is not a luxury/habbit its also a necessity!!!

Re: Save my back..

sleep on your tummy, and that'll relax the strained muscles.

and if it gets chronic, lose weight. nothing eases your back like 10 lbs gone from your frame.

Re: Save my back..

So does that mean no stretches for a good while? Nurofen (ibuprofen) is good for that.

I've lost enuff for this month.. I always sleep on my tummy!

Argh someone says sleep on my back..on a firm mattress or the floor..and u and Milly say sleep on my tummy!? confused

Re: Save my back..

At this point worst thing you could to your self is dieting.
Tired muscle needs protein for reconstruction of tissues.
If you deprive them from protein. Its gonna result more pain while you sit and wait.
And verrrrrrrrrryyyyyyyyyy slow recovery.
Once you relax a Little : do some light back/stomach work out. You don't want to keep muscle inactive(semi) for too long. They can get weaker.

Losing weight?? leave it for later.(If you have to!)

It gives temp relief :(

Re: Save my back..

I had a horrible back prob few years ago that was due to my laptop bag and posture. I got relief only by physiotherapy. I guess since you have a hectic routine you should consider having a few physio sessions, calms like anything. If it's chronic home remedies might not be very helpful.
