Saudis want more Pakistani troops in KSA to save them from ISIS

Re: Saudis want more Pakistani troops in KSA to save them from ISIS

Stop it.

Re: Saudis want more Pakistani troops in KSA to save them from ISIS

Honestly, Pakistan’s best interest lies with keeping very good relationships with Iran because it is a very large and significant neighbour.

Given our bloated defence budget, a smart move would be for Pakistan to play a remedial role between Saudi and Iran and contribute troops or air support to the Iranian-led anti-ISIS ground action.

Pakistan would help Iran avoid the sectarian accusation by providing mostly Sunni manpower.

Pakistan would help alleviate Saudi concerns about the position of Sunnis in Iraq by providing mostly Sunni manpower who could overwatch what Shia militias do.

Pakistan would reinforce the relationship with Iran through a shared military campaign.

And Pakistan would be sending a symbolic message about our willingness and ability to fight extremism anywhere.

My ears are waiting for… mere aziz arabio !

Re: Saudis want more Pakistani troops in KSA to save them from ISIS

Why not provide them with our drones, our drone-operators etc?

Re: Saudis want more Pakistani troops in KSA to save them from ISIS

Now that the answer is no (hopefully!), let’s hope the Saudi King won’t be summoning his lackey - Nawaz Sharif - every other week. He maybe useless and has nothing productive to do - but you know what Your Majesty, the wannabe Majesty travels on Pakistani taxpayers money! So stop sending your nonsense last minute invites.

Re: Saudis want more Pakistani troops in KSA to save them from ISIS

Will never happen.

Re: Saudis want more Pakistani troops in KSA to save them from ISIS

Pakistanis need to get over this “brotherly” crap. It doesn’t work, and those brothers are not sincere.

Iran is not a friend, they are also eyeing Balochistan and NWFP for a long time. I am not in favor of friendship with Iran. Rather, we prefer sealed/secured borders

Re: Saudis want more Pakistani troops in KSA to save them from ISIS

^ Exactly. Pakistan is not the sole thakeydaar of Muslim Ummah. These PMLN and PPP walas can sell the country to India for some quick bucks. But it is time for Pakistan army to show they have learned from their past mistakes and push back a little on Saudi and USA, and looks they have realised a thing or two.

We need strong and sustainable economic ties with Iran, and with Saudi Arabia too. Not more military assignments for some quick commission money. This is whole trap is like a quagmire, only when you take a fall into it, you realise how deep it goes and difficult it is to come out of it. I bet back in 80s, some people were super happy to receive Saudi/USA aid to train bunch of Jihadist to fight the Russians - who were also enemy at that time. They were fool into thinking that Pakistan will somehow remain totally detached and untouched from the evil they were creating and facilitated or just pitted against.

Pakistan’s defence against ISIS lies in sealing its borders and eliminating rouge and internationally funded elements from within.

PS: Where was Saudi Arabia and their help when Pakistan was burning with suicide attacks?

If they need help, they can ask UK and US troops to guard their palaces.

Re: Saudis want more Pakistani troops in KSA to save them from ISIS

There are no friends and brothers, everything revolves around interests. We should not get embroiled in regional conflicts which are wrecking havoc in the Islamic world these days. This is a good decision of PMLN govt and should be applauded.

Re: Saudis want more Pakistani troops in KSA to save them from ISIS

Haha, as if PML N had anything to do with this decision. They could have said yes, no or whatever they liked. In the end whatever Gen. Raheel decided was going to be our final move.

This may be a way
