Saudi NOT to renew visas of expatriates working for longer than 6 years???

**Hi,

i heard on Pakistani TV News Channels that Saudis will NOT renew visas of ALL the expatriates working there for longer than 6 years…is it true? have you heard about that as well?

this would adversely affect Indo-Pakistanis, i suppose. i hope it’s just the rumor.**

Re: Saudi NOT to renew visas of expatriates working for longer than 6 years???

That rule will apply to yellow category companies which are basically those who haven't fulfilled Saudization requirements. But the catch is that around 90% of companies fall into that category currently, so if this rule is actually enforced you might see a significant reduction in the expat population over the next few years.

Personally I don't see this happening. I remember they once planned to introduce an income tax for all expats, that was never implemented either.

Re: Saudi NOT to renew visas of expatriates working for longer than 6 years???

thank you for the info. by the looks of it, it sure is a bad thing. country's economy will suffer a setback if the expats have to return to their home countries. let's see what happens. Saudis. i believe, are notorious to change minds like when they tried in vein to tax the incomes of expats.

Re: Saudi NOT to renew visas of expatriates working for longer than 6 years???

that would be a sight to see, the majority of companies which will be unable to meet saudization standards are those which are heavy in manual labour services, construction, janitorial, food services etc. so with the workers booted out and locals not really keen on those jobs, it will be a funny situation. i expect waivers being passed around like choharay on a shaadi

Re: Saudi NOT to renew visas of expatriates working for longer than 6 years???

which bring me to the thought, do u think the country will run because from what i recall saudis dont move a leg? There is saudisation quota still active and i heard from people that companies have just hired people in papers that come at the end of each month to accept salary ?I really doubt this wud happen, this country runs because of expats.Saudis like easy money

Re: Saudi NOT to renew visas of expatriates working for longer than 6 years???

This is not going to work for a country like Saudi because there are a lot of low level jobs which no Saudi wants to take. So if labor workers are kicked out after 6 years, who will replace them?
High level jobs need brains and we all know where our Saudi brothers stand in it :P. It’s close to impossible but if they really started going for it, the affects I can foresee at the moment are positive only.
Workers will prefer other ME states and avoid Saudi, which will result in less available human resources in Saudi and hence high salaries of skilled people. They will keep finding jobs in other ME states prior to finishing this six year term and new people will come to reset six year counter to zero again.
Multinational companies will not be affected at all as all they will do is to swap their employees from Saudi to other countries and thus no one will ever stay more than six years.
