Attock oil group plans $170m investment
Dr Ghaith R Pharaon, chairman Attock Oil Group of Companies of Saudi Arabia, called on Nouraiz Shakoor, the federal minister for petroleum and natural resources, here Thursday. They discussed Attock Group of Companies program of investing $170 million in Pakistan’s petroleum sector during this year. The minister was informed that besides taking part in the oil and gas development projects, the company would also set up 150 megawatt furnace power plant in Pakistan with an investment of about $100 million. The project includes oil pipeline from Rawalpindi to Peshawar costing $70 million by June this year.
During the meeting Dr Ghaith exchanged views with the minister to promote Pak-Attock Group cooperation in the oil and gas sector. Welcoming Dr Ghaith, the minister said there are sufficient opportunities for Attock Groups, investment in Petroleum sector of Pakistan for the mutual advantage. He appreciated the group’s plan to further invest $170 million in Pakistan’s petroleum sector. The minister said the government would extend all-out cooperation to Attock Oil Group being the pioneer in oil sector of Pakistan, which has been playing a significant role towards socio-economic progress and prosperity of the country.
Mr Shakoor also informed the delegation about the investment prospects in the oil, gas and privatization area and briefed him about various ongoing development projects in the upstream and downstream in petroleum sector.
Ahmed Waqar, secretary petroleum, Naeem Baig, joint secretary (development), Shoaib A Malik, chief executive officer of Attock Group of Companies, and others were also present in the meeting. —APP
