Never even visit Saudi if you value your life.

Re: Saudi Arabai to behead a young Canadian

Oh my! that's horrible. I say Canada severe its ties with Saudi Arabia and stop doing business with it at once. That'll teach 'em a lesson.

See if US cares to share that sentiment with Canada while at it....

Re: Saudi Arabai to behead a young Canadian

The Saudi government is not an Islamic government, nor do they follow Islamic Shariah completely, as it should be.

I would still go to Saudi, despite its setbacks, because it is our Holy Land, and Hajj is part of our faith.

Re: Saudi Arabai to behead a young Canadian

Just curious, has KSA ever beheaded a non-muslim or its just the muslims and usually the asians that get beheaded.

Re: Saudi Arabai to behead a young Canadian

Common, I hate Saudi Arabia like anybody else...but lets be fair: This kid is charged for murder.

There are two issues here:

  1. Is he guilty? If he killed someone in Saudi Arabia then the Saudis have every right to sentence. *] If he's guilty, is beheading an appropriate sentence? It's the second issue we're all having trouble with. I think we can all agree that Saudi Arabia has the right to send him to trial but should it behead him for murder? Instead of seeking an extradiation for an accused murderer, lets petition Saudi Arabia to stop beheadings once and for all.

Re: Saudi Arabai to behead a young Canadian

IF YOU COME HERE AND GET CITIZENSHIP ? THEN RETURN.
]The problem is, he’s more Saudi than he is Canadian. Mohamed Kohail was born in Saudi Arabia, and lived there for most of his life. He moved to Canada in 2000, and spent six years in Montreal before returning to Saudi Arabia in 2006. Mr.Kohail became a citizen during his stay here, and now has all of the rights of any other Canadian. But the question in my mind remains: Is Mohamed Kohail Saudi or Canadian?

The man is clearly a Canadian citizen by virtue of his six years of residence here, but he also spent 16 years in Saudi Arabia, and was a citizen there by birth. In a certain sense, one could argue this an internal Saudi matter, and that the Canadian government shouldn’t interfere. On the other hand, Canada has a duty to protect all of it’s citizens, particularly those facing the death penalty abroad. It’s a difficult question, exacerbated by the fact that Canada does allow dual-citizenship, and so is often found trying to save Canadians who lived here for a time. Consider, for instance, the patriarch Ahmed Said Khadr who has caused this country untold money and grief, who was technically a “Canadian” citizen, but found dead in Pakistan shot by security forces with his Canadian-born sons whom he indoctrinated with radical Islam. Was Mr.Khadr an Egyptian? A Canadian? An Afghan?

]We have a conflict of interest, since both countries can lay claim to Mohamed Kohail. It reminds us of the debacle in 2006 when thousands of Canadians living in Lebanon were evacuated by the federal government, who abused the generosity of Canada by returning as soon as the Israeli-Hezbollah war was over.

So which is it? Are you a Canadian? Or a hyphenated Canadian? If you believe you are truly a Canadian when you swear under oath your allegiance to the country and Queen, I don’t think that grants you permanent immunity to return to your country of birth and use the “membership” as a get out of jail free card in times of peril. But that is what we see more and more, particularly as it takes a mere three years to become part of a nation which has taken hundreds of years to build. Canada should ensure that Mohamed Kohail gets a fair trial in Saudi Arabia, and it is troubling to hear that there are indications he is not, but we must remember that Mr.Kohail is forcing the two nations in dispute into a conflict because of Canada’s dual-citizenship rights. In essence, Canada has brought this upon itself again and again.

It’s not as if these boys were unware or ignorant of life in Saudi Arabia.

And most importantly because they are loaded with money!

Re: Saudi Arabai to behead a young Canadian

If he is guilty then he should be punished. Doesn't matter if he's a Canadian citizen. I know some friends of mine who knew this guy and they all say that he was a good person but that doesn't mean he isn't guilty..

Show at least some concern for a fellow muslim!
