Two weeks ago, went to Sauble Beach with my family. Sauble Beach is North West of Toronto in Southern Ontario at the Eastern shores of Lake Huron. Its 2.5 hr drive from Mississauga and 45 minutes from Wassaga Beach towards west in Bruce Peninsula.
It is considered as the most beautiful beach in Ontario. 10 Kilometers of white sand beach with crystal blue water, natural dunes and tides upto 9 feet high. Its a paradise for ambhibeans like myself. From mid of May till end of August the beach is usually jam packed with people. There are lots of water sport activities like jet skiing, para-seiling and ofcourse the best surfing. There is a beautiful falls 10 minutes away near a family picnic park.
Apart from long 2.5 hr drive, Sauble beach is the best destination for the beach maniac Torontorians. Take Hwy 6 North from Kitchner, it will take you to the destination. Some pictures of beach and falls.
It was, more than any other beaches I have been to in Ontario except Wassaga. These pictures are from net, so they prolly take pictures when the beach is clear.
Awesome place. We went there last year in Sept after labour day, which is when prices for cottages go way down and and the crowds aswell. It was very clean compared to Wasaga, you can drive down from there to a town called Tobermory for a boat cruise and fresh fish n chips and if your into hiking and photography the Bruce peninsula national park is amazing.
We went to Long point beach as recommended by Qruis. Water is not too clean but way better then lakeshore or wassaga beaches. I loved the sand dunes. If you are looking for high waves go for this one. It is on the same route to Highway 6. There is designated parking where you pay $10 per car and becuz of that there is very very less crowd. If you are looking for some privacy I would recommend this.
Jalz, Longpoint is on the south end of the Hwy6. I have been to Turkey point twice which is 20 minutes before Longpoint. The water there is clean and calm, not many waves though. There is a nice picnic/bbq area there, parking $10 works for both picnic area and beach. I opened a seperate thread for Turkey Point last year.
Sauble beach is on the North End of Hwy6, 300 km apart to each other.
As you can see Sauble beach is where the red star is north in Bruce Peninsula and Long Point is at the bottom of Southern Ontario.
I have been there before and its nice but its too crowded...i agree with Aashna about tobermory...bruce peninsula park is great. So far i have been to 11/12 beaches in ontario and my favourite one is inverhuron (for its water clearity) and north beach (for its high waves) ...and the good thing is that they aren't that crowded.
