Well its about $4,000 a pound to reach low earth orbit, lets just take a low estimate and say it cost $20,000 per pound to go to titan and back. Then a gallon of gas is around five pounds. But it takes a 2 gallons of crude oil to make one gallon of gas (the rest goes into industrial processes but we shall ignore that now.

So in order to be economical Gas prices would need to be about $200,000 per gallon, which is impractical because gas can be produced artificially much much much cheaper.

Now the moon is covered in silicon which is used in almost everything in modern society and cannot be artificially created (yet). The moon also has a large amount of Helium3 due to radiation bombardment for a few million years and Helium3 (which can be created artificially but not economically) is a promising nuclear fusion fuel for generation 2 fusion reactors (we haven't even perfected generation 1 so far). So look for the moon to be minned within the next fifty years. Space elevators built on both earth and the moon would make this a reasonable possibility.

^ you are the one who gonna vote and then pay the tax (cost to invade titan and fighting the aliens and drilling) so you should be the one who must know all this :p
